F250 with major frame failure

Guy on Craigslist selling his plow truck includes plow and salt spreader for $2500.00.

The frame snapped in half. 86 F250 with a 460. Said he inspected the truck from top to bottom
before using it to plow this winter.

Pretty good deal if you ask me. The plow and spreader would be worth upwards of $1800-2000, $400-500 for the 460, salvage any sellable parts (trans, transfer case, axles, interior pieces, etc.), and break down the rest for scrap.

Betting he hit a massive crack in the road or pothole with the plow. The salt from being a plow truck probably didn't do the frame any good either.

Wow! Let’s see, one snow plow hanging off the front end (doesn’t look light), a heavy a$$ 460 up front and a ton or two of sand and equipment in the bed, (kinda hard to tell by the pics but it looks like the majority of it was aft of the axle); now just run it into a curb and there you have it, a folded pickup…

That guy is on drugs. The truck may be worth 1500 w the truck drivable. And if he inspected the truck before he started the season either he needs glasses and shouldnt tell people he looked over the truck or someone took a sawzall to it the day before this happened

You're not buying the truck... you're buying plow equipment, a backup 460, spare parts, and scrap. $2500 isn't bad. It's Meyer equipment, check the prices of e47 pumps during the plow season, they run from $250-600 depending on operating condition. The truck side plow mounts run around $300. 7' 6 blades depending on condition run from $200-500. The salt spreader would go for $700-1000+. Plow lights run around $40-60, the truck side wiring, depending on the plow controls run $35-125. Now you still have the motor, a truck to part out, and remaining scrap. Not a bad deal at all to the right person.

Like i said. I wouldn't pay more than 1500 for a running drivable 80s plow truck. No less one that has a broke frame and a Myers plow

Thats exactly it too. Around here in North NJ, you can pick up really nice, non-rusty (mostly) plow trucks for 1200-1800. There's one maybe 4 miles from me that the guy's trying to sell for $600, working plow and everything but leaked fuel and sat for years (that one doesn't have a busted frame, and it's still been there for like a year).

That truck is worth only what you can salvage/part off it, and not many people really have the time to make a buck like that. He should probably just rip the usable stuff off, clean it up, make sure it's not busted (that salter looks iffy) to sell and scrap the truck himself.

This is what I do for a living. No, not a lot of people do have time to do it... but I do. I'm just saying from my perspective and for what I do on a daily basis, this isn't a bad deal. You just got to see the forest for the trees.

There is no way I would pay that kinda money for that truck. I wouldnt pay that kinda money for the truck if it was in good shape. Trucks like that just dont go for that much around me.
