What about the 99 and up f450 f550? do they have 34" frames too?? reason i ask is i have an 91 f450 and i like the simplicity of the idi engine. powerstrokes are an arm and leg to maintain and many expensive parts that go wrong. the f450 is rated at 14,500. the frame isn't that high but it is a double thickness. What i'd like to do is put a dana 135 from a 99 f550 in so i should be good for around 20k gvw.

When you say gloved what do u mean? and who will custom roll steel in such small quantities??

Most any welding/fab shop will roll a frame section for you if they have the equipment.

As to the glove ... That is another piece shaped to fit inside (or outside) the frame that spans across the splice for reenforcement.

You don't fish plate when you glove ...

A glove goes way beyond the splice on both ends and is BOLTED not welded, they are used to strengthen the splice without welding. Welding a frame weakens it, a glove returns that strength. They can be either inside or outside the frame rail, and typically are inside for visual reasons.

I asked to a custom shop about cutting the frame y my 05 chassis and they told me that they shortened a 99 chassis drilling new holes and moving the rear springs forward .
what do u think ?

kind of a shame to cut up a long wheelbase C&C to convert it into a pickup imho.
why not sell it to someone who needs a C&C and just buy a pickup?

i don't think your idea is shot. the srw rear axle from a pick up sterling 10.5 will work in a cab chassis. same exact thing except shocks and ubolts are in different positions. shocks are in back of axle on pick up and in front of axle on cab chassis but the mounts for both can be moved.

Now i'm wondering if a dana 80 dually is the same for CC and pick up

The cab and chassis housing is narrower then a pickup housing ... I.E. Track width!

so a cab chassis 80 won't work in a pick up. will a pick up 80 work in a cab chassis without looking terrible. would the wider stance give it better load capacity??

You can put a bed on a cab/chassis truck. But the dually is gonna look something like this one.

that looks nice. don't have to worry about cracking fiberglass.

with the old style trucks are f150 and f350 frames the same thickness?

The newer 99 up frames are 8 inches tall pretty thick maybe 1/4" give or take.

retired??? What happened to it?? How did u make it 4x4 i never saw an obs dually 4x4

hmmm. i don't think the superduty frames are double thickness. Turns out my truck was gloved. i think the obs f350 cab chassis frame is the same height has the fsuperduty. didnt get to measure thickness but it felt pretty thick on the f350.

I have a 93 F350 Cab & Chassis, and a 94 F Superduty...
Both frames are 8" tall until it gets to the rear axle hump.
The F Superduty frame is thicker. Not twice as thick, but between 1/16" and 1/8" thicker.
Neither frame is flat top across the reaf axle; they both have a hump on top, and also get narrower top to bottom at the axle. The F 350 frame is 5.5" high at the axle hump, the F Superduty is 6" there. Shortening the wheelbase much would probably be a problem...
The Dana 80 under the F Superduty is a couple inches wider than the Sterling 10.25 under the F 350. You can put the F 350 axle under the F Superduty frame if you also use the springs & hangers from the F 350. ( I thing someone on here put F 350 springs in the Superduty hangers, and just used spacers to keep the springs close to the frame...)
The D60 from the front of the F 350 should go under the front of the F Superduty just fine. I'm going to put the F 350 front springs under it as well, so it won't sit so high...
