Been noticing alot of people asking the value of these old trucks, so I think it be great if we can all pitch in this thread and let everybody know the following info to help out noobies buying the right truck for the right price:

The truck has no rust at all, spent its whole life in Dallas TX. The PO kept all service records and recites which he gave me when I bought the truck. The interior was spotless. Exterior paint shows some wear and a couple of small dents. Over all, very good condition.

No records, no history, no problems so far put 2500 miles on it, well maintained, unmolested, no body rust save for some surface spots, plenty of underbody surface rust, cracked windshield, interior mint, good tires. New parts i've discovered on the truck: starter (dated 6/09), both batteries (dated 5/09), water pump (brand new), lift pump (brand new). Replaced: GPR ($33), GPs will go in soon ($85). Slowly going through it.

What I have is a nice 86 dually 4X4, T19, gearvendor,ats turbo, and alcoa wheels that looks and everything including cold air and cruise works like it is suppose to.
I have driven this for several years all over the west including canada and alaska, averages at 70 mph 16 mpg and other than oilchanges and servicing I have replaced the return lines and water pump ,thermostat and heater hoses. SO total parts that have failed has been around 200 bucks over a three year period.
The way I figgure It has cost me around 5460 for three years running which is less than 7 months payments my son pays for his 08 and I would rather drive mine. lol
absolutely no dodges.

Mileage when purchased and date: 47,786 last fall.(carfaxed 100% clean and legit.driving it confirms as well.)
original problems when purchased: hole in front fuel tank/FSV burnt out/rear fuel tanks pick up tube broken/bad GP's/bad battery cables/bad front U-joints/bad belt tensioner/bad belt/one bad front brake caliper/one bad front rubber brake line/rusted out brake lines/bad e-brake cables/bad master cylinder(so the normal things you expect with a 17 yr old truck that sat mostly.sitting takes its toll as well.)
not maintained well,but not abused either.basically just left to rot away.interior is great/frame and underbody solid/the original stock bed and front fenders= rusted out.just took some TLC to bring her up to par nicely.with new fenders & paint job,the truck will then look like the condition its truly now in.the big dump bed purchased separately of course,which is also getting sprayed.
recently on the road,with about 1,000 miles so far since (finding the dump bed was my holdup) and loving it!

i'd list mine but it was given to my father as a christmas present from the company he was working for, and that was way back in 92, im guessing the truck was stuill worth a pretty penny back then too.
91 f-250 4x4 280,000+ on the clock. k&n intake, rebuilt strengthened e4od,with 94 style tcu, all sensors new, warn hubs

Came with: 6.9L, T19, new batteries, tires 80%, new vacuum pump, alt, GP's and relay, new return lines.

98k bought from second owner who bought it from his boss. It has all the original paperwork in the glove box.
Had to put fuel return line kit on, GP"s, alt, reg, and bought a new set of tires and rims from a GI being shipped out for $200, new front pinion seal.
Minor body dents, good glass. It does have a weak reverse syncro I think, it doesn't want to go in reverse gear very easy when it's cold.

First IDI, didn't know anything about IDI's at the time. It was rough, sat for 4 years...(vehicles that sit around here are actually in WORSE shape than daily driven HIGH mileage vehicles) Wasn't in good enough shape to justify repairs. Stripped the good parts and scrapped the rest.

Has a homemade steel flatbed with 8' top-mount toolboxes and a rotted wood floor, rusted out floorboards, but otherwise a solid chassis.
Suggestion to potential buyers in the Northeast or other areas where rust is an issue: Check the leaf spring hangers for rust, mine were paper thin on the first truck. In the Mass., Connecticut, and Eastern NY area, common craigslist prices have been hovering around $1500 for a decent truck that might need a few low-dollar parts. I've seen them go up to around $3,500 for a pickup, $3k-$5k for dump trucks (on the high side if it has a snow plow), and I've seen $8,500 for a turn-key rollback flatbed tow truck. Be aware, paying more doesn't alwasy mean you get something better! You MUST check it out thoroughly no matter what the price tag is. My two current IDI's were cheap because they wouldn't hold prime overnight and the sellers suspected fuel system issues. It took me 5 seconds to find the cracked and leaking fuel return lines. For $45 worth of return line kit, I'm up and running in 2 hours!

Mileage when purchased and date: around 150K
Once we got it we had about $1100 of work done at the shop, basically all new breaks on front end, and bearings front and rear, New Gp's and push button relay.
I put a new return line kit on and fixed a few electrical problems. Also I had to completely rebuild the dumpbed because the old bed was so rusted out, about $800 for steel and some new hydro parts for the hoist.
I need to replumb the hydro system and take care of a coolant leak, hopefully this summer if I get some time I can repair the rusted out cab corner and area in the floor and paint the truck and bed.
Someday once I get a few of my projects knocked out I want to buy a 4x4 IDI, add some performance parts, and use it for heavy towing/hauling and for when my right foot is feeling heavy.
