Argh...Fuel Pump
200 dollars later Ive came to the conclusion that my fuel pump was bad. Can I put an L-cheapo in line pump on it to get me by? will the electric pump be enough to keep her running? Do I have to use a diesel pump, or can I use any old universal one for now?

whatever you go with make sure it is less than 8psi, 5-7 or very close to that is perfect. I am going through the exact opposite in your situation as i have gasser intank pumps shooting over 60 psi and jacking all my @#@% up. I dropped the pressure but it is still acting up and may have murdered my IP. Long short of it, mr gasket makes a low pressure pump, just make sure you mount it as close to the tank as possible because it works harder the farther it is away. Lower than the tank, like on the frame rail is perfect but not in the engine compartment.

E8012S from AdvanceAutoParts, $41.99. It will supply all the fuel you need and you could leave it in place forever as long as you hook up an Oil pressure safety switch to shut it off in case of a mishap. You can leave the E8012S in place and use it as an auxiliary pump. The OLD Mech Pump will push the fuel through the EP. Actually, there's nothing wrong with the "OLD antiquated system". The benefit of an electric fuel pump is when you have a fuel event. You don't have to stress your starter and batteries to get yourself running again. It's pure insurance and it can save a lot of time.

I once seen a guy spend over 1500 on his tractor New Ip, injectors the works BECAUSE his kid was afraid to tell him he dropped a rag in the fuel tank.lol
He was trying to get some diesel on it to wash his hands. lol
I also was called out one night on a carnival truck with a cummins in it. On the phone it sounded like fuel filter problems, when I get there the filters had been bypassed because the driver used diesel to grease something on the ride and instead of syphoning it out he used styrofoam coffee cups to dip it out and they would disentegrate in the tank. after awhile he got tired of changeing filters so he bypassed them. That was a RETARD.

Help! I dont even know if I am posting this to the right place or not. I have a 93 f-350 it sat for 6 months now trying to get it back on the road. replaced starter glow plugs gp wires, fuel pump, the new fuel pump got it running only if i stand outside and hold the air hicky do at the filter. it will start on w-d 40 or ether than idle for several minutes while i hold the air valve in and blow diesel all over the place. when i release pressure it while very quickly. any suggestions?

Wrong fuel pump, too much pressure. take it off and get one that pumps less that 8psi.
