Cruise control servo for 92

Ok, now that i have the new engine in my 92. (after 300,000 on the old motor)

I want to get my cruise control back working again. Problem is, I believe my problem is in the servo. I replaced the horn pad already (found a really good used one,) and the control module under the dash.

Now for the strange part..... I can feel once I push the switch that it tries to take over, but it just cant. So, therein lies the search for a servo. Ford is a nogo, been discontinued!

So I can get a new one for an 89-91 at least. But does anyone know if it will interchange since the 92's were the last year for the vacuum controlled units?

Thanks

Have seen only a couple. But the only problem is I might end up with one with the exact same problem.

My local yards have an electronics policy. No returns, no exceptions.

Thats why I want to find a new one.

Thanks

Just a thought, have you checked places like NAPA for a reconditioned one? I'm not sure the cruise servos are something they rebuild, but I would think it would be worth checking into....

I have called the local napa, and they say they don't carry them. Now I don't know for sure, because I have gotten that same answer before and they were too lazy to go look it up.

I had the same problem with my truck and found a chaffed wire in the harness between the firewall and the cruise servo, and I couldn't see it until I unwraped that portion of the wire. I had already replace the amplifier thinking that was the problem, and the servo moved and held position when manifold vacuum was applied directly so I ruled that out and decided to check the wiring.

Ok, disconnected the vacuum line from the engine and hooked it to the Y connector that splits the vacuum on the backside of the servo. The cable moved, and stayed put. So will check the wiring tomorrow, and if nothing else replace the switches on the steering wheel. (Cheap insurance)

Thanks
