Question Stroked 390 or 428?

I've been kicking around the idea of maybe someday dropping in a 428 in my 76 F-100. I know the 428CJ's are pretty hard to find and would be cool to have, but I also know that there are stroker kits available for the 390 that can take it up to 445 CID. I also believe a 428 bored .030 over will make it a 434 CID. So the question is, which set-up would give the the most horsepower and torque...the 428 to possibly a 434 or a 390 stroker kit to 445? The 390 block I'm running now is bored .060 over. I'm guessing one of these set-ups will lose some low-end torque? I should also mention the truck will be used for hot-rodding and cruising around in, no towing.

Thanks
OJ

Well it boils down to what you are willing spend per cubic inch (hp/cu is inversely proportional to $/hp). The more cubes, the more you spend. With the stuff you have currently, I would just find a '28 crank and use that in your .060 over block. Final displacement would be a 422. Six cubic inches is not going to change the price of tea in
China. A buddy of mine did that with a tri-power setup, four speed, and a Comp 280H cam in a '32 pickup and the thing hauled the mail!! Spend your $$ on a CJ, PI, or tri-power induction and on the heads. That is where the real power lies if you are only going to be driving this truck on the street. You might just beat somebody who spent twice as much on his motor than you did!!

There is an earlier post ( stroking a 360 ) that might have a formula for you.

OK, thanks guy's. I've been doing some research on some engine builds learning what the differences are.

Thanks again
