2-3 tons actually .. if you read all the posts from lasitter you'll realize the guy knows how to handle a loaded truck .. and w/ the mods he mentioned his truck will handle it no problem .. he's talking maybe a 30 min trip w/ a load, if that ..
Don't get me wrong, I fully embrace the mentality that there's no such thing as safe, only safer, and that any time these trucks are moving(and sometimes when they aren't) there is a risk factor. I just feel better about having a few thousand pounds of wood behind me with a headache rack.

I've never let the fact that making a mistake could kill me keep me from hauling anything!

(And for that matter, I've got my fair share of scars to show for it.)

I consider leaf springs a consumable, not a hard part.
