No running lights or instrument cluster light 01

Running lights and cluster lights don't seem to work. All dash warning lights still work. Headlights still work and so do the brights. Turn signals and brakes are fine too.

Ohmed all fuses. Found blown fuse #8 under the hood. Replace fuse, turn lights on and it blows immediately. No trailer hooked up. About to start trying to dig my way through the electrical diagrams, but I always get lost in there. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome. It's the wife's truck so I need to find the short. That and I'm leaving town for a few days soon and would like to get it fixed before I leave.

Nevermind. It has to do with a light green wires that's spliced into the brown wire behind the headlight switch. I disconnected it and the lights work again. Now to find where that wire goes.

Obviously somewhere that wire has rubbed itself raw and is shorting out. Good luck in finding it. I hate those kinds of hunts.

Something wrong with the recon smoked cab lights. The shorts above the headliner or in one of the lights. They're disconnected for now. I'll find the short when the weather is nice and I've got the time.

Which part Nolan? Connector issues or the assembly that sits on top of the truck? I thought the recons were supposed to be good?

Both... There are some very negative reports about recon quality AND customer service. Mostly on other sites...

If I end up having to switch lights, what's a better brand?
