A 76 year old friend of mine bought a neat 37 pickup a few years ago and was driving it a couple of weeks ago when something went bang and he couldnt engage the trans, no grinding of gears, it was as if the clutch was pressed in. I couldnt figure why this was happening, my somewhat newer ford clutch problems were quite the opposite. Today I went up to where he lives to help him pull the trans out. When we got it on a stand and I started messing with the throwout lever, the bearing hung up on the input retainer when it was fully extended. Is this what happened? Is this a common sort of problem? It would be great to hear some confirmation of my suspicions, thanks for any input!
