rotten egg smell

I have a over powering rotten egg smell comming from my truck but no check engine light, and the fuel milage seems to be getting worse. I was wondering if it was the cat. and if i should just cut it off and run straight pipes 2000 Superduty 7.3 152,000 miles 4x4 automatic supercab

please help

rotten egg smell gone

the smell was the batteries they had gone bad. they were out of water and very swelled I replaced them and everything is fine. But I cut off the muffleranyway
