I need some info on rim offset for my application

I have a 2006 F250 Super Duty crew cab XLT 4x4 turbo diesel long box. I just had a 6" Skyjacker suspension kit installed. I am running the stock Continental M&S LT245/75R17 wheels. My truck now looks like it has "roller skate" wheels on it...lol. I was thinking of running 35" tires but I believe that the 7 inch stock rim is not wide enough for the 35's. I don't have alot of money to spend and need to know what rim (stock or aftermarket) I can use for my particular application. Perhaps a factory 18"x8" ?? I am also unsure as to what offset I need... so the tires will not rub/interfere with anything. I do need to fill that gap between the top of the wheel and the fender so it doesn't look so silly. Thanks.

I'm running 315/70/17 BFG's on my 07 F350 with a leveling kit on stock wheels. The tires are about a 34.5" tire and they don't rub at all. I've seen several posts on here about not running stock wheels but I have done it for years without any problems. I personally like the looks of a tall narrow tire and thats what running on a stock wheel acheives. Buy your new tires, put them on your wheels run and run them. If you dont like the look you can always buy new wheels later on!

Thanks for the quick reply, TRS. The rims on your F350...are they 7 inches wide or 8 inches? The reason I'm asking is because the tire shop told me I need a 8 inch wide rim to run those BFG's as they are 12.50". And is the offset the same as my 17" F250 rims?

Just checked my 04 wheels and they are 8" wide. These wheels are different as far as backspacing is concerned. Years 99-04 are the same, everything from 05-current are the same but differ from 99-04. My wife has our 07 which would be the same spacing as your wheels so I'm not able to check the width on them. If someone else doesn't chime in and help, I will check those wheels in the morning when she gets home and let you know the width on them.

I looked at Toyo's website and found that for both 35X12.5R17 and 35X12.5R18 tires, the recommended wheel widths are 8.5"-10.0"-11.0". If you are going to purchase new wheels, then I would at least get them in 9" width.

For the 2005+ Super Duties, you will need back spacing in the range of 5.25"-5.50" for a 9" wide wheel to keep the OEM look (wheels tucked inward). If you like a wider stance, then you will need backing spacing in the range of 4.75"-5.0" for a 9" wide wheel.
