Question 2008 Hubcaps on 2003 with Warn Manual Hubs?

OK, i just installed the warn premiums, and now the hubcaps are too deep, so the locking hub sits an inch or so below the surface of the hubcap. Looks terrible, and i imagine it will scoop up mud and crud like a shovel.

I did some reading and it appears the 2005-2007 caps will fit just right... which is perhaps why they are so hard to find.

I can get a pair of 2008 caps, but will they fit on my 2003? Has anyone tried this?

Here is a pic of the caps in question for reference:

I hate searching for, then finding a thread about my question/problem when that thread just ends without a resolution.

SO for the sake of completeness i purchased and installed the 2008 hubcaps. They will fit a 1999-2005 rim with the Warn manual hub installed. The hub sticks out a little, but i think its actually cool looking:

cheers.

Looks cool I did the WARN's on my '01 and I hate the way the caps fit. Now I know what to look for.

Thanks GUNNERDOG. I have just been driving around without caps, I'll start looking for some 2008 caps for my 2000 with MileMarker hubs.

There are aftermarket caps for '05-ish trucks that are fairly cheap, and will fit the '01s. They look great with my Milemarker hubs. Your Warns look great, there, too.

Quick question: When going from vacuum hubs to manual, what is wrong with going with the Ford manual hubs? Are they less reliable than the Warns or MileMarkers? If using the Ford hubs, the OEM caps would fit the same as with the vacuum hubs.

I have never seen anyone selling Ford manual hubs, (used) and I didn't look up the new price. I believe they are made with some plastic parts. Since the Milemarkers were $100 or so, I'm a happy camper. I agree that a taller profile hub (like the Ford manuals) would solve this problem. After battling ESOF hubs on 2 Super Duty trucks, I was all done with them and other inconveniences became secondary.

Hi, i just put some 2008-2010 hubcaps on the front of my 2003 F250 to cover the warn manuals, but what about the rears? The rear 08 caps look too shallow to fit my stock alloy wheels. Has anybody put them on an earlier model?

Thanks in advance...I love this site!

I looked up the Ford manual hubs and it seems that they are ~$300 each. Might be a better deal to stick with aftermarket.

the OEM manual hubs suck just like the ESOF hubs. they stick and they wont turn. for 150 bucks you can get a set of almost indestructible set of Warn premium hubs and be done forever. I had a set of MM hubs first and i broke the driver's side hub this winter fooling around in the snow! i just have waited longer and just bought the warns first.

Warn makes the OEM ford hubs (at least for the 05+)so i doubt they suck. I've never had an issues with mine and i use them a couple times a month. As for them sticking if you would have manually turned them once a week you would have never had a problem.

Yeah that is exactly what I did with mine. I put a vacuum cap behind the wheel (with small zip-tie) and removed the vacuum hoses that go under the engine. I also put a vacuum cap right after the split coming out of the vacuum reservoir right behind the battery. Btw, I used the Milemarker hubs from ebay about $100 no shipping. Mile Marker Supreme Locking Hubs 449SS NEW IN BOX | eBay I'll try to get a picture tomorrow and post on here.

Getting back to the original subject...08-10 hubcaps.

Could someone measure the inside depth of the rear cap for me, they look too shallow to fit over the rear axle cap on my 03.

Also, is it my imagination, or are there loads more caps for the front of 4X4 wheels than the rears on eBay? I would have thought rears would be more common.

there is a post on modding the factory caps to fit flush with the warn hubs, i tried to search it but i cant find it, hopefully someone will post it becuase i cant find it for you. But you basically just pull the metal clips out of the oem cap, use a table saw or something simular to cut one inch off the cap, reinstall the metal clips and your good to go.
