351c cleanup

This is my 77 f150 when I pulled the valve covers off all flunked up. This is what happens when you keep adding oil without changing it for a few years. Anyways I manually cleaned out both heads and scraped as much as I could out. Then I pulled the pan and cleaned it out. Put it back together had to remove the motor mounts to get to the pan so I put new ones in since the old fell apart. Then I ran fresh oil and kerosine for 25 mins to clean out the rest of the gunk. That stuff came out black so it was doing the job. Then I added new oil and filter. Runs much better and doesn't have to warm up with foot on the gas. Next I changed the spark plugs and I got some wires I will put together and get on. I topped off fluids. And put a new air filter.

I got impatient and took the battery out of my daily driver then put it in my truck. I put a little had in the carb and turned the key ... IT LIVED ... for a few seconds. It did a ton for my motivation!

Well after my truck hasnt been touched in over a year i pulled it out of the woods, scrubbed the moss off of it that was growing, got it to turn over and start using ether (it aint got a carb on it at the moment) now sitting till tomorrow and hopefully get carb bolts, carb gaskets, fuel filter, and oil. It's sad that in the 4 years that its sat my floor boards have completely dissapeared.

Made minor progress

Put the dash back in, mounted the stereo and speakers. Put the bench back in. Tonight, it will be wiring and the instrument cluster. Still looking for a smaller tach to mount flush in the panel above the light and wiper switch. If anyone wants a sun brand 3" pedestal mount tach, I've got one.

GA Redneck-

I sent you a PM. The Tach is yours. I found a 2 1/16" dash mount on Ebay. I will be mounting it right above the headlight and wiper switches in the open panel.

I got wiring cleaned up and put in a loom last night under the hood. Stuff like the hood light, the electric choke wires, the fan motor wires, Etc. Not really picture worthy but I'll take one tonight. Bought a heavy breather style air cleaner, put two coats of corporate blue on it. Ordered the factory 460 4V sticker for it. Also ordered the 460 emissions sticker for the driver's side valve cover.

Dash is nearly complete. Should finish it tonight if my neighbors stay away! They cost me 1.5 hours of daylight yesterday! Still need to locate the trigger for the glove box light. Mike told me I need to order the whole assembly so I am sourcing that.

Once I have the 77 wired back up, I'll take it to the shop down the street and have them verify the vacuum lines and timing for me. (OCD Thing). Should be ready to burn excessive amounts of fuel by this weekend.

Did you not read and heed my garage advice? Guess not....

If you can wait a week + a few days I have a complete glove box light plunger assembly that is all yours, for FREE, just cover the shipping?

Heck yeah... I'll take it!

I listened to your advice. I agree with all of it. Problem is, people here are just nice and friendly. I have never been the type to chase them off. Last night I finally said, "Alright guys, I need to put my tools away and go inside." They left and I went back out with my lantern and finished the looms. Sheesh, I shouldn't have to do that but it is what it is.

I'll take that glove box assembly from you. I'll PM you my address and you tell me how much for it and the shipping.
