Fitzmotor, we have to see pics of that!

The reason I ask is because I'm looking for a newer type of mirror for my 79 diesel.

Awesome day today, my truck has kind of been in storage for the last two years as I lost interest in it because I couldn't get it to run right. I had replaced the EGR because the spring was broken causing it to run rough, then had the carb rebuilt as I had just bought the truck and it looked like it needed it. The truck never ran right even after the carb rebuild so I parked it. Last fall I pulled the carb to check the EGR plate because I read on here they can burn out and cause an internal vacuumed leak. It looked perfect so I put the plate and carb back on with new gaskets which were identical to the ones I took off.

Well today I capped every vacuum source but still had a suspected vacuum leak. Well I found it. The carb to plate gasket was the wrong one. The carb rebuilder supplied the original and I just ordered the same one which was again wrong which I did not realize. Well, I had another gasket which was actually the proper one and now I have one very smooth running 400 and a huge smile on my face. Time for an adult beverage or two ....

Really nice detail on your truck, looks great. One thing though, your belt looks to be on a wicked angle and not in alignment. Have you taken the engine up to any high RPM to see what happens? I would think the belt may come off or even flip over.

It is an illusion with the picture that would pop right off if that was the case! Thanks though.

'76 302 4speed,short box. I cleaned and painted the tin spacer/shield between the rear block and bell housing.Cleaned and painted the clutch fork and the z bar bracket (I think it is unique to 302's) that bolts to the bell housing.Installed the painted tin spacer/shield,flywheel,pilot bearing(actual bearing not the bronze solid),clutch, pressure plate and finally the bell housing. As soon as the bell housing was up and sitting on the dowels,it was obvious my shorty headers interfered with everything. The key word here is "everything". So,a quickie search on this wicked good forum and I ordered a set of Hooker #6904 from the info I found here.$200.10 & free shipping from Jegs. It feels good to be putting things together instead of constantly taking apart!

Pulled a ******* move a few weeks ago. Didn't have the lug nuts torqued down right after changing the brake pads and the wheel decided to come off on a muddy road in the rain. Lug nuts-FUBAR'D, Grease cap-GONE, Fender-Beyond repair, Wheel--reamed out like a ***** at a frat party. Been trying to get things repaired or replace bit by bit.

Put on the front bumper that I got at the pull and pay the other day. Looks a lot better, had been without a front bumper for 2 years now. I'll try to remember to take a pic and post it.
