Built a new headliner for the 77 with some Fiber board from Home Depot and automotive carpet from the auto section at Walmart. Painted the previously chrome trim (with rust spots) satin black. Way stronger than the original and super cheap and easy to do. Probably have about $20 into it and it looks and feels like it should have from the factory. *sorry for the crappy pictures. Couldnt reduce the glare from the sun no matter what I did.

Check your thermostat temperature type, sometimes the 195 Degree ones create the vapor lock with carbs.

If you are still getting it after installing your goods, think about checking it and replacing it if it is. They make a 192 or 190 I believe.

I was experiencing that on my 79 and changed it, and cured it immediately.

Installed this today
Lower ball joint spun around until I wised up a bit and tightened the top a bit to pull it in place. Torqued to 70 ft lbs, then torqued top sleeve to 40 ft lbs, then top castle nut to 100 ft lbs. Steering moves with slight resistance... I dont have a spring gauge but I'd say its close to 25 lbs @ steering connection.

Rotor was a bit stubborn sliding on, the PO dinged up the spindle a bit. Small project took forever it seems. Got to do the other side, hookup extended brake lines and then install my new springs!

Inner wheel bearing torqued to 50 ft lbs, then backed off 90 degrees or so before fitting locking washer. Outer nut torqued to 100 ft lbs.

Drilled steering knuckle for cross over steer, new wheel bearings, seals, ball joints, U-joints. Painted with POR-15. I also painted my rotor and caliper and will get another shot in the daylight with my DSLR camera.

Tore apart my truck's AC and cleaned all the crap out of the inside cab sections in preparation for painting (when my SEM paint comes in from Amazon).

Bagged all the metal parts to send to the powder coat guy.

Maintenance Work

My rear drive shaft on my 71 4x4 has never been straight and has a vibration that wears out u-joints well before they should be replaced. I went out this morning and pulled the drive shaft to take to the drive line shop on Monday. then I pulled the radiator as it has had a slow leak at the upper tank so while I have it out I started to fit the fan shroud to the radiator as it was not quite the bolt in it was suppose to be. I will get the second coat of cloth and resin on it tomorrow and will finish it off while they fix the radiator. After these three items to repair I still have to get the AC fixed and find out why the passenger door does not like to be opened from the inside and then do an oil change, I'm tired already.

Degreased and cleaned my 460 power steering/air conditioning bracket to be powder coated. Removed my smog pump and power steering pulleys and prepped them for the same.

Received a new heater/ac control I bought off of ebay. Stored it for later installation.

I got my rebuilt garrison steering valve installed. Can't wait to have power steering again.
