New lifters will break in with the old cam.. I see no issues here either.. In a perfect world, a cam and lifters are a matched set (much like bearings and races), but then again this world isn't near perfect, is it?.. Swap lifters and enjoy a good running engine

Why change lifters? Were they below spec?

What is the brinell hardness comparison between a cam and lifter?

The lifters are 25 yrs. old and some were rattling. After adjusting lash several time to no avail plus leaking stem seals I felt it was time for some new STUFF. As long as the cam is in spec and you like it no reason not to run it. Back in the day, that being when I was young with no bucks, I had a cam I ran in three different engines. Look at it this way... if you had a lifter fail and it didn't wipe the cam on the way out would you buy a replacement lifter and install it or would you buy a set of lifters plus a new cam? All told I could of got by with a couple lifters and a set of stem seals. I didn't need the springs , the rockers or the intake but hey... that's why we have these trucks......so we can PLAY with them.

Swapped the steering wheel for a newer model . . . I wish it had a bit more dish, but I can't complain for $7 at the Pull-N-Pay. Only a few minor mods for the horn to work and turn signals to cancel.

'installed a 76-79 integral PS steering gear from Red Head in my 73 F100 4x4 which has been converted to the 78/79 system.

One word to sum it up: Awesome.

Had mass issues with my water pump today.

One of the lower bolts WILL NOT back out 100%. It's out of the block, but the threaded portion is sticking inside the pump bolt slot!

I'm tempted to take the front clip completely off and throw the impact on it to see if it'll back its way out... but I don't want to snap it!

Suggestions/comments welcomed.

Pb blaster? ATF and acetone mixture?
Pull the rest of the water pump bolts and pull the water pump so you can get it on a work bench for further investigation.
