Thanks. I think it turned out pretty well. Yes she's 14. She is hoping if she helps me work on the truck I'll let her have it when she starts driving. Not going to happen (way too much vehicle) but I do cherish the time. We'll find her something nice, safe, and slow for her first car.

tailgate latch and parking lights

First, I replaced the parking lights with a kit I got from LMC. What a difference! The kit came with new bulbs, screws, foam gasket and lens. Fit perfect and looks great.

Next, I fixed the tailgate latch. One of the plastic clips broke and the right side wasn't releasing. Also bought the new clips from LMC. I messed with the bars for a few before I unbolted the latch assembly from the inside of the tailgate and that was the trick, with the latch out if was easy to replace the clips attach the bars and bolt it back in. Good to go for another 40+ years!

Before no amber left on the bulbs<br/>

Nice! I just finished pulling out my seat today, and will be heading to the wrecker's to find a new one out of a newer truck. That one looks nice! I will also be painting my floor, I'm thinking with black tremclad.

The coolest thing I did today though was ad an AUX port to my AM/FM stereo. The stereo works as per normal, except when I plug in an AUX cable, the radio stops, and I can play music from my phone! I just need to find a good spot to mount the AUX port, and it's all set!

The lighter would be inconspicuous, unless you're a smoker.

Ash tray or glove box....ash tray makes it more accessible by you.

That's what I'm thinking, and it would allow me to still remove it if I have to remove the radio, whereas glueing it in somewhere would make it difficult to ever remove the radio.

I have seen a aux port cable run down behind the dash and end up in the ashtray. Line the ash tray with some kind of material to protect the phone from scratches.

Flat bed Removal

Finally got a weekend away from work, and decided to get my flat bed off of my '73. It was HEAVY!!! Took me and a couple buddies to lift it off. But now i can wire wheel and por-15 the frame, and put an original bed back on it!

Once we got the flatbed off. Heavy for being a wooden deck, with a metal frame.

Here's a photo of the truck when i first got it.

This was taken this summer. I've put an actual chrome bumper on the front, and plan on painting it all gloss white.

I've been trying to get my monster truck ready for the season. The new engine is going in this week, but I got the graphics on it today. I love how it looks. Earthquake III here will only be used as display and car crush truck. EQ IV will be getting built this fall. It may end up being a ride truck. I need to make a LOT more money in the monster truck industry to buy or build a sanctioned truck that will pass tech. Maybe two years?

Where did you get your bed rail and tail gate caps from? I'm looking for a similar set.
