What Have YOU Done To Your Truck Today?

I finally got my windshield washer working. Had to track down the plug, apparently the last owner had unplugged it because the line splitter on the firewall was broken so had to replace that too.
Also got the courtesy light door switch on the passenger side working and while I was out there I got the GPS mounted up between the sun visors and hid the wire in the headliner trim. Turned out great.
Next project will be the wiper motor problem.

Started putting a high pinion 60 front in my 77 highboy. Picked it up from the painter on friday, put it in the truck saturday afternoon, and had it blown apart saturday night after about a 12 pack. Spent the better part of today scrubbing every inch of everything not getting replaced. Ordered a bunch of new seals and a few bearings from broncograveyard.com. Also ordered a 35 spline trac lok rebuild kit so I can put a rear posi unit in the front for truck pulling action. JBG has some pretty good prices to boot. Tomorrow I need to turn the rotors and order up a new hub because one has a spun race. It looks like I'll have to shorten the driveshaft about an inch as well.

i sold mine today.
I owned it for 11 years and 2 months, bought it when I was 18 in Jan 1999, and sold it at 29. that was the best damn truck I ever owned....i don't care what the chevy and dodge boys say. that old F150 only let me down once in 11 years. It was my daily driver when I first started college, and my 2nd vehicle when I bought my bone stock '93 V8 Grand Cherokee in late '99. I'm on my 3rd Jeep (currently building another), went through 5 vehicles....but I always kept the old '79 around. when the motor in my built '99 Cherokee blew at 152,000 miles.....I was daily driving the old '79 around for a month in the winter of '08.
I haven't driven the old Ford since Halloween '09, and the registration ran out. I put it up for sale on craigslist, but no real interests until last week. a new teen driver from up north will be its' new owner. I plan on moving out west this year with my parents when they retire. I can drive my mom's Jeep or my step dad's Silverado (i know...i know...i hate GM, and I've already put a ton of work in to his '04 to keep it going) if my 5.9 Limited gives me probs.
TONS of memories and great times in that old thing, was sad to see it go, but time marches on and I couldn't keep it forever. i hated to let it sit out front of the house not driven/used, and keep registering/insuring a vehicle I wasn't using.

the '99 I bought bone stock with 105K on it, daily drove it for almost 4 years, sold it with 6.5" of lift, long arms, and 32's and a TON of mods....got $5200 cash for it with 200K on it. towed my sea doo with it, my now X gf of 4 years and I drove it through 5 states and canada 2x.
picked up the slate 5.9 Limited grand cherokee (always wanted one of these) for $3500 in a divorce sale in late Jan in Fargo.
the old F150 saw em all.....and was always there to help if I ever needed a back up vehicle when any of them were down. Loved the old thing and it made me a die hard old Ford truck fan but....damn it was getting rusty. barely any floors, box floor, and sides were turning in to swiss cheese, doors were getting holes, cab corners had seen better days. I HAD to leave the tail gate UP otherwise the box sides would flop all over. Northern MN isn't kind to these old trucks. the paint was in pretty decent shape when I bought it in '99, had some rust, but no matter what i did, it just got eaten alive .
I've always liked the short boxes up to '79...either 2wd or lifted 4x4. I'll probably buy another one eventually when I get out west.
