IS TOYOTA FINISHED ???
#16
I have funny family situation, when my step-mom is buying new Toyotas for last 30 years, while I am die hard enthusiast of German engineering. The truth is, that while my step-moms keep on whining that she can't afford better car -over the years she spend way more on Toyota than I did buying used Mercedes.
Than Toyota is famous for fixing their problems under the carpet. People in business know, that new Toyota owners, while taking their cars for oil change quite often drove away with new computer module never knowing about it.
Finally the bubble burst. No surprise to me. I get to drive family Toyotas on airport trips and they are very lousy performers, although economical vehicles.
Than it was my Ford that started small fire 2 weeks after I parked it. The wiper assembly burned quite badly before 30 amp fuse blown. Never heard about a recall on this one?

I'm not supporting Toyota but this is not much different than years ago when ford had a recall for the firestone tires that would supposedly blowout. They may feel a slowdown in sales for awhile, but like ford, they will bounce back not long after. Everyone panics right off the bat, then a year or two later the majority of the population forgets that it happened.
Edit: Didn't other auto manufactures use this part as well. I remember reading something about Pontiac using it too. I could be wrong
Edit #2: How about the cruise control recall ford had for the superduty. I took mine in, had it replaced, no harm no foul. I didn't bother me that it had a defective part because ford offered to fix it at no cost to me. That's what I value most in a company...acknowledging a problem and fixing it at no cost to the consumer.

I must be a conspiracy theorist too...after general Motors turned into Government Motors...i thought to myself it would be a matter of time before Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, and Nissan began developing "issues" with their vehicles...and, moreover, and watch this, Those vehicle companies will begin blaming the American worker (yes, the American) for their shortcomings...it will sound something like this...most of these faulty parts were manufactured on US soil, by US workers, in US companies...if it were done in Japan, or Korea, or China...there would be NO issues...
I think at that point, i would contemplate renting a bomber, making a few nukes, and flying over there and finishing the job we started in the 40's...IMHO

would venture a guess that poor quality comes from the vehicles being built by us workers. It's a sad but true fact that American labor IMO is sub par. If you want something done right then chance is high you will have to do it yourself.
And who really cares if prius ppl are having issues. Is isn't that kinda like blaming the door manufacter for a faulty door when a mentally challenged person can't figure it out??!
Show me which "victim" on CNN you would trust with a butter knife or fork....

I don't have all the answers, but I've got one hell of a bunch of questions.

Completely agreee!!! why isnt any recalls that GM or Crystler had to put out not been screamed out to the masses!!! nope didnt think they would do that since the government owns them.

No, actually they specified a frame compound and received something different. Granted, extensive testing would have discovered that but that doesn't get the frame supplier off the hook. To suggest they "got a deal" is absurd.

Why doesn't anyone bring up the F-150 frames.. They used non reusable plastic screws on the frame member. Instead of using 16-20 steel bolts. They use 10 steel and 6-10 plastic bolts.
In a collision these do not pass government safety tests.. Why is this not a big deal to anyone?
Every car company cuts corners... stop complaining or pay $40k for a camry or $100k for a superduty.. It's the way the world works..

I'm sure they would if they started rusting so bad that the truck falling in half, or the engine mounts rusting off became reality....
I maybe went to far as saying they got a deal, insinuating they bought the cheapest components they could find.
Let's remember though, that company would have built those frames with whatever specs were given to them. It's not the same as fords explorers with exploding tires. It is similar to cummins and those 53 blocks that were not being made as spec'd out.
That aside, those toyota's rusted through all over the body too, so it's not hard to entertain the thought that they plain out use cheaper, less engineered metals.

The ford tires thing is retarded anyways.. replace a $300 part or lower tire pressure.. pretty simple fix.
Anyone here ever see ford explorers doing the speed limit? They usually are going 85 through curves on the highway and you can see the whole vehicle leaning.. That issue is driver error..
I hate ppl blaming the company.. it comes down to a very simple question.
"What did you expect to happen?"
That's like toyota.. i have wore the rubber off my brake pedal in my superduty and I wouldn't blame ford if I failed to yield and hit someone..

One thing -- "Supposedly"
I sit back on these issues b/c ppl run with the stories and make them sounds like they are selling cars that are actually ticking timebombs of trouble.. tt of t haha..
I'm not saying you are wrong.. but in most media frenzy cases the truth usually doesn't come out till the madness dies down...
