I wonder if my newer Bilsteins have more travel than the old ones.

I can jack up my front end and let the tires hang down and there's quite a bit more travel on the shocks than an inch.

Have you got the blue and yellow ones or the silver and black ones Stewart? The 5100 series (silver and black) are made for trucks with a lift so that might explain it.

Or maybe my truck just likes being difficult.

Just the standard OEM replacement series shocks. The blue and yellow ones.

I noticed my blue and yellows were too short when I installed them also. My truck may be 4x4, but I had the same shock issue. At full suspension droop I'm past the point of shock travel, no lift on truck. I was irritated by the fact but since I'm 12 miles from civilization, I installed and have been running them since. Wonder what gives.?

I just recently replaced them (4 months after the leveling kit) with some Reflex's. While the swing arms were fully extended down I had no problem bolting up the shocks...I didn't make a point to look at the length, but IIRC they were fully extended when I bolted them up. So I'm guessing they were "just long enough"
Frank, I see you used the Reflex / shock I had just put them on the back of my truck in Dec. and am going to install them in the front with or without level kit this summer. I am still not sure I want to lift it. That I am waiting until I have the coin to do ball joints and bushings. So how do they ride?? Also I remember you had a little issue when towing. Did you get that worked out. If so what did you do to get the truck to handle better with a load ?

Actually the shocks that I removed were in good shape, I just wasn't sure how old they were. (they were on the truck when I bought it.)
The reflexes are doing what they are supposed to be doing. They seem to recover faster with a load than the older shocks.
I'm happy over all with em, but My front end is still a little squirrly when I have a lot of trailer tongue weight. I guess thats normal without a WD hitch.

Thanks Frank. I was thinking if I go with the leveling kit I was going to go with air bags when towing. But I am looking forward to putting the reflex shocks in the front due to the fact that when I am on the highway the front gets alittle loose when I hit a dip in road.
But as far as the leveling kit it does help the total look of the trucks. Your truck is proof !! It is cool .

I also have this kit installed thanks to Franko, and once I got the cam kit installed it rides like a dream.

When you guys install the cam kits for camber how many degrees are you needing from stock? Also seen kits that do both camber and caster. Have any of you had caster issues with the 2 inch lift? And how good where the front end spec's after alignment?

I dont know, yes mine do both, No, and I'm not sure... I had an alignment shop do the dual axis camber bushings when they did the alignment.
All I know is it looks good, and it goes down the road straight.
