Ext warranty or do EGR/oil cooler?

Neither?
Are you having EGR cooler problems? Sorry if I missed it, but I don't recall that you were.
Your low on miles at only 57,000, so buying 2 years for $2,500 doesn't seem like a good deal to me. And your EGR cooler might hang in there for a good long time.
Put the $2,500 in an account called "repair fund".

I would put it into warranty.
Extended warranty should cover your EGR ($350) and oil coolers ($350 to rebuild, $600 new) plus a FICM ($1,200) and HGs ($3,000) when and if they fail.
If you have not installed a coolant filter by now, your oil cooler is probably really restricted and the EGR cooler is probably dying a slow death. I installed a coolant filter at 35K and have 84K on my X. Just rebuilt the oil cooler the week before Christmas and plugged the EGR cooler exhaust inlet I replaced last April when I installed ARP studs.
Oil cooler $1,800? WOW! I ***-u-me that is cooler + labor to install. I got my oil cooler OEM rebuild kit plus the OEM gasket set for $249 off Ebay and that is all you need. You do not need a complete new oil cooler for $500 to $600.

Saw a dealer on this site that was selling the extended warranties for about $1300, IIRC he was out of Huntsville, AL. Turn out the ESP is negotible just like the vehicles are. My 5/100K is still good until 6/2011. But at this price you better believe I'm buying another two years. It doesn't take much to make 1300 on a 6.0L.

I personally would get the warranty AND a collant filter, if you don't have one. You are also covering your injectors and HPOP. My boss has 75K on his 05 KR and lost his HPOP in the middle of a parade. Never had a warning. Bill would have been over $3K. That did include an injector or 2 also.

Block heater problems
Okay installed the cord and read the resistance thru the heater and it read 15 ohms. Which is about 8 amps current. Well I plugged it in and the next day when I got in the truck the temp gauge with key on did not even move off cold mark. Should the temp gauge show higher temp than this?
