Oops, measure first!

Hey guys, I just bought a rear diff from a 2005 F350 SRW. It is replacing one in my work truck which is on a job site out of the city. The guy I bought the diff from had it in a lifted truck (10" lift or something) and he had cut the spring perches off, rotated the diff a few degrees and then re-welded the perches. I cut the perches off to rotate it back to stock angle and I cleaned up all the old welds BUT I forgot to measure the distance from the centre hole to centre hole on the perches so I don't know what the width of the perches needs to be now! I can't measure the truck it's going into as it's out of town. I want to get these welded on before I take the diff to the truck so I don't have any screwing around on site.

Can anyone grab that measurement for me?

Thanks in advance!

Oops is right! I may be wrong but I think that you are going to have a difficult time finding someone who can take that measurement... the axle needs to be removed from the truck to get an accurate measurement.

The pins in the springs, I believe, are centered. If you drop a plum bob to the floor on the inside of each spring and then add the width of the spring you should be golden. unfortunately I'm out of town until this weekend so I can't measure mine. I don't know if their are year to year differences so you might want to make sure you're getting dimensions from the correct year of truck.

Thanks for the offer. I just drove to the mall and found an SD and measured it.
