Speaking of transmissions

With all the transmission talk, I have a few questions to see if I potentially have an issue. This is my first Ford and my first 4x4, so it may just be new to me, but some sounds and such I haven't gotten used to yet:

2010 EL Limited, coming up on 5000 miles now.

1) During low speed driving I hear a whine, don't know if it is just loud enough when I speed up that I can't hear it

2) There is a definite "lurch" when shifted into gear, extra noticeable when the engine is on higher idle (like when it sits out in the cold), but does it every time I start and shift into gear (R or D).

Am I just being picky, anyone else have these sounds/feelings?

I have the lruch and it has never gone away. It is crazy how it will jump when moved from drive to neutral. I do it in traffic and drive thrus. If your foot is not firmly planted on the brake shes gonna lurch forward as you make the D to N switch...but why? Is it too much line pressure? I have no idea and neither does Ford as "it is all within spec"

You can feel every shift like it was on molasses. It feels like it pushes you around at every gear change. The shifts were smooth, however noticeable.

Mine does the same thing as your number 2. The shifting between R-N-D are louder than other cars, and sometimes it's very loud.

The 6 speed is much different then a C6 sorry to say. In the way the clutch are applied and the converter technology. This is why old transmission guys are saying the "new ones are junk" but truthfully they are moving more weight with more power longer without failure.

You will have wind up in the drivetrain due to the IRS. There is more to load and unload when torque is applied vs a solid axle and multi link suspension. You'll also notice that say if you power braked the truck the rear end actually rises vs a standard axle that will pull down when loaded.

I first noticed this in a company explorer and then when we moved to expeditions.
