Got about 600 miles on our 2010 Escape flex-fuel 3.0 6cyl. 6 speed auto transmission. The Mrs. complains of the transmission not seeming right when it shifts into third gear and to her it seems to down-shift too early when decelerating, especially going down hill. I'm not going to try to explain any of this away and turn out to be wrong or gets worse down the road. My appeal is to anyone that may have knowledge of this 2010 or earlier models having any of these or enhanced transmission problems.

Make certain that your wife doesn't have the hill descent button engaged (it is on the side of the transmission shifter). This will cause the vehicle to downshift and hold its gear while going downhill to reduce brake wear. Its a really handy feature that I use a lot but you don't want it engaged at all times.
