78 f-150 4 inch suspension lift 3 inc body lift how big of tires?
hey guys I have a 78 ford f-150. I got the truck it has suspension and body lift on it. i am pretty sure its 4 inch suspension lift but not sure. also has 3 inch body lift on it. the picture of it is in my gallery under "black 78 f150" truck right now has 33x12.5x15 tires on it. please take a look at my truck and let me know if you guys think also if its 4 inch suspension lift or 6 inch suspension lift. I personally think its a 4 inch but i have been wrong before. now to my question. right now i have 33x12.5x15 tires on the truck. what size tires will the 9inch in the back and Dana 44 front will hold up to? the truck is just a work truck and every now and then go mudding with it. what size tires do you guys suggest would look good under it? also what add on equipment should i add to the truck? this truck i want to stay road leagle but wanna make sure its strong in case i ever need pulled out anywhere. let me know what you guys suggest. i dont wanna go overboard with this truck because i have a bronco i am building up for hardcore wheeling. this truck is just more less on the road truck that will be lightly wheeled and ill more less go mudding with it.
thanks,
jimmy
PS I will have to soon post pictures (if i can ever figure out how to post pics) of my 78 bronco that i am building up for hardcore wheeling. have Dana 60 front axle and sterling 10.25 rear on 38.5 hawgs.
thanks,
jimmy

If thats 33" tires on your Black 79 F150 then Id say it has a 4" lift. You now want to purchase a body lift to gain extra height? roughly ~7" of total lift should clear 38s quite well.
The problem is your D44/9" wont be happy with a 38" mud tire.
Personally Id put some 35s on your current 4" lift setup as a good compromise for driveability and function. As for tires? Ive seen Mickey Thompson MTZs do wonders here lately. They appear to be a very good road tire while still being quite capable offroad. -not too expensive and you get a good many miles out of them too.
You already have the components for a hardcore bronco to fill that void.

the truck right now as it sits has a suspension lift and also 3 inch body lift. with 33x12.5x15 tires. the 33's look pee pee under the truck. im thinking the truck has a 4 inch suspension lift and 3 body lift. by the looks of things total lift is 7 inches. i just trying to get a better allterrain tire thats bigger to fill up the wheel well opening some. i can get 4 almost new 35's for 200. i may go with 35's but still think they are going to look small under the truck. what do you sugest? like i said the truck isn't getting pounded on like my bronco will. just some mud here and there. mainly its my work truck (i work at a quarry and there is some mud down there and i like to play in the mud). what do you guys sugest i do for stronger bumpers? any pictures of ideas of some strong but diecent looking bumpers? I am in process of installing a allumunim tube grill in the truck also.

posted picture on here since i learned how to. yeah i think its a 4 inch suspension lift and 3 inch body lift. in the picture i have 33 inch tires on it. i am thinking about going to up 38 inch tires. i found a set of 38x15x15 tires on same kind of aluminum wheels as what is on my truck with one brand new 38x15x15 super swamper tsl. the other 2 are 1/4 tread and the last is pretty much bald. he wants for wheels and tires 275. think its worth it? I figured i can get them and buy one more tire so have 2 new ones and can run them for little while and then in month or so take the ones with quarter tread off and buy 2 more new tires. then will have 4 new tires since the one is still new.

no no....thats from the D44 I replaced. I dont have pics of the 3 Moser D60FF shafts I twisted the splines on but Im pretty sure stock shafts are stronger.
If I get to the point my Chromo 60 and Pauls D70 wont hold up as is I guess Id give a set of CVs and 300m shafts a try. After that?...smaller tires and motor or possibly burn the beeotch to the ground and build a 1/8th mile car.
