He might be interested in trading, not sure. He says he's got a 76 4x4 (half ton, not sure if F100 or F150) and a 90's something powerstroke so I know he's into the trucks. I'd be glad to send you his contact info if you want. And while we are at it, let me know what you have and I might be interested in buying

Did you take any exterior pics of the box or tailgate? What kind of shape are they in?

And one more:

On the other side there was a dent (maybe four inches top to bottom) on the corner of the bed. Not horrible, but not perfect either.

Overall the tailgate looked pretty good. It also has a box (?) hitch on the back. It has aftermarket cruise control installed, too.

My 78 crew has a 10,000 gvwr but that is with dually's, without i think it was 8500 or 9000 lbs.

If it were running it'd be a good price, but you don't know what's lurking in there as to why it's not running, and if it's not a simple fix and you don't want a project skip it, between the rust repair, paint, and engine work it can be overwhelming.

I just bought one for $175 locally with no engine and a junk bed and trashed interior. The total investment to get that $800 truck on the road will be less than mine so it sounds good to me.

Randy, you anywhere near Kearney? I've been up there about a dozen times in the past year for work--nice place. I'd ask you to look out for some rigs for me, but I'm done with the job and won't be back (sad).

Well if it wasn't so far I'd already be over there buying it.

Lol, actually I live in Kearney! What kind of work were you doing in this area? I'll keep my eyes open just in case.

Well, I work for a university in Texas and occasionally work as a consultant for other schools regarding enrollment issues. I've been working with the good folks at your local university, developing long-term plans for growth of the school. The project wrapped up last week so I won't be making any more trips there.... but it's a good town and good people there. The first trip there my flight was delayed and I didn't get in until 1:00am--no rental car option, so I had to ask a fellow passenger (only 9 rows on the flight) for a lift. "No problem!" he said. Nice bar there, O'Mally's or O'Shaugnessy's or something, $3.50 pints of Guinness.

Ah yes, O'Malley's...

You mentioned the frame was a bit rusty, mostly just surface rust or did you see some nasty rust underneath? Were you talking about the rubber cab mounts being rotted or the actual metal cab mount being rusted through? Is the race-track trim complete or is there some missing? If so, where at? Do you think the truck could run long enough to load on a trailer or will it need to be winched? (Hate to ruin a good 460 with popped out freeze plugs) Other than the drip rail, where else did you see cancer eating through completely? I've been looking for a cheap crew for a long term restoration and this has most of what I'm looking for.

Not so much "nasty" rust on the frame, but it was evident...whether it was surface or deeper. The body wasn't bad so it's hard to tell--and subjective. Looked like a floor pan had a dime size hole; bed looked decent.

The guy said one piece of trim was missing but didn't notice it. Cab mounts looked good but I'm no expert.

Not sure if it would start. Seller says it would, I'm assuming with some work, but I don't know.
