3" or 4" downpipe
ok guys i need to know what i need to chek for to see if a 4" DP im going to have the trans out in a week or so to have it rebuilt and was wondering if the 4" MBRP would fit without majer moding of the fire wall? if so ill be happy with the 3" i guess. but while im doin it why not do it right. im goin to either a 4" or have a buddy build a set of 4.5" to 5" stacks next winter> and any one have any pics of an install out there? im really not to worried about beatin the fire wall a little i just dont really feel like breakin out the plasma and welder to make patch panels for this thing just yet. thanks.

if your lookin for just a dp then get ahold of Dale Isley at tymarperformance.com he makes some awesome 3" to 4" downpipes if thats what your lookinf for. and usually just very minor firewall adjustment is needed nothing huge just make sure to paint over and newly exsposed metal that might rust. and dont use ur plasma that a bad idea. heres a link to something that might happen if you do tthat i found on another dp thread thanks to michaloco Ford Diesel Power Forums - View Single Post - Exhaust removal gone horrible.

Lol yeah I saw that. I was just tryin ti make a point that I don't want to have to cut the whole legnth of the fire wall to put in a down pipe. I just didn't know how well a four inch would fit and what kind of bonus that would have over the three inch. But I am leanin more twards the full system now any way. just seems nicerto have the. New trans and new exaust all pretty togeather all at once.

You will not fit a 4" dp in there.
I have a 3" body lift on my one truck and had to smash the firewall in AND smoosh the 4" pipe to get it to fit.
Just go with the 3" pipe. Many guys make well over the 500 hp mark with a 3" pipe, no real need to go bigger. You can transition to 4" next to the trans if you want.

I'm about to put one in, but will have the motor and the dash completely out of the truck. Nah it doesn't need to be done, but I just want to!
I'll be taking pics of the progress.
