That's right, and that's why I wouldn't expect to really notice any difference between a single 3.5" pipe and two 2.5" pipes.

I've read quite a few threads (mainly in the Early Bronco world) of folks moving from dual exhaust systems to "super singles" because they get the same (or better) performance for basically 1/2 the cost.

Whoops was reading your post while I was making mine, got things a bit mixed up I guess. Same thing still applies with even a 0w though.

Thanks,

Hi Mike -

I just ordered a 2011 SD CC F-250 6.2L w/3.73. Will be pulling a boat of around 2700 pounds across flats, but also in the CO mountains occassionally. Would like a small slide-in camper at some point as well.

Two quick questions (for Mike or anyone else that has ideas).

1. I assume this is more than enough vehicle so that I won't have any "*******" up the mountain.

2. Any suggestions for the break-in period as I am picking this vehicle up 500 miles from my house. It would be Interstate miles on the truck right away unless I use backroads.

Thanks for all of the great posts thus far.

Mike did mention this earlier:

The engine will be fine. All the connectors and plug wires are sealed.

We do testing in water troughs to test for any issues. We also do power wash testing, and salt baths to test for corrosion.

The trucks are run for many miles in real world testing in all kinds of climates including snowy and rainy weather, and no issues have been found.

I do not know that we specifically test in "deep" snow, but our design guides (ground clearance, etc) have been developed and are continuously updated based on real world and customer input.
Mike,

The above brings up another question I have. I like to keep under my hood clean, so when I wash my cars and trucks at the car wash, I often pop the hood and spray down the engine compartment and various heat exchangers.

Obviously you have to be careful with radiators and such, but is there any problem with hitting the engine compartment with pressurized water?

Hey Mike

What do you recommend for a service interval in Canada. My dealer says its the special service because we live in Canada, even though I don't do any of the things in the special service list, ie dusty, off road, idle,..

Mike,

Thanks for watching this tread, replying, and giving us more insight concerning the design, and capabilities of the new 6.2.

I just purchased a 2011 F-250 last night with the 6.2 and I'm extremely impressed. I'm looking forward to many years of good service with this new truck and I'm stoked!

What are the numbers with 3.73 gears versus the 4.30s? All of the side by side testing I have found are comparing the 4.30s.

Thanks,

Depends on how you configure it (i.e. what cab, 4x2 or 4x4, which rear end you have, which options it has etc.)

You can look here to find out, make sure to scroll to the 2nd set of data for fifth wheel. You can see the 6.2 can tow up to 15,700 lbs if properly equipped.

Mike - Thanks for all your posts/answers...

I have a couple of questions for you -

1) How confident are you with the "Oil Life percentage" I think that the manual says 7500 miles or 5000 when heavy service/ Off road... I got like 3200 miles on my 6.2 the last 1350 miles was hauling heavy trailer, highway speeds, 95-100 degree weather plus about 30 - 50 miles off road pulling same trailer about 1/2 the time pulling in 4wd Low w/ e locker. Anyway now that I am back into civilization my oil life readout is 76%. I probably throw away money but I have always changed my old v-10 @ 2000 - 3000 miles... Should I listen to the computer or just go ahead & change the oil?

2) This is my first w/ Ford built in trailer brakes. On my 2001 I had aftermarket brake controller that when gain set at 4-6 the brakes on trailer would lock with heavy load. Obviously - these brakes through the ABS system won't really lock now so that isn't an issue - so when hauling a really heavy load (15-16K) should I just set the gain to 10?

Thanks for any answers

PS - Y'all did a great job setting up the 6.2/ 6 speed - e locker is nice also (wished I had it on front ) -

The one that can tow 15,700 is a 4x2, regular cab, with the 4.30 rear end. I would also select the 10,000lb GVWR option.

If you know the cab and drive train you are looking at, the chart I posted a link to above will tell you exactly what it can tow.

Most of the trucks with a 4.30 rear end can handle a 15,000 lb load regradless of cab and drive train according to Ford's towing chart.
