Welcome................................Your not going to get much on 2WD. We are the few. I did the leveling with the puck. Looks good. I like to see what others have to say on your lift.

Fabtech makes a 4" and a 6" lift for our 2wd trucks
I believe the 4" uses the stock I-beams, and the 6" lift has new ones supplied, and is somewhere in the $1800 range.

I've seen an Excursion with a 6" lift on it. To me it looked like a 4wd with a leveling kit. I couldn't believe it was really a 6" lift. If you're looking to step up in tire size, you might consider the 6". I sent a message to the Excursion guy. He should be along to offer guidance.

Howdy y'all

My truck is the one Chris speaks of...

While the above is true, it's not entirely accurate....

There are only two manufacturers that build a complete lift kit for 2wd trucks: Explorer Procomp and Fabtech. The 4 inch kit from either is for gas motors only. I was initally looking for a 4 inch lift or less, but 6 inches is the minimum and quite possibly the max if you have a diesel motor. I've done my homework and went through a whole ordeal back in 2007 to know this and then some.

To the OP: In order to lift a truck with I-beams like ours, you need stronger, longer coil springs. I'm not a fan of shackles or body lifts....a full kit with springs and the necessary hardware is really the only way to go in the long run. I went with the Procomp kit and 2 1/2 years later I'm still satisfied with the end result.

Lifting your truck is one of the best things you can do to increase the ride quality and get a higher more pronounced stance on the road. There are a few things to consider before and after lifting your truck:

One of the biggest things that people never take into consideration is the loss of fuel economy that comes with the bigger tires. The only way to counteract this is to re-gear your truck to compensate for the bigger tires. Running 35s or 315/75/16 tires you'll need a 4.10 gear ratio to put you back to stock. Anything more and you're wasting you're making an expensive mistake, believe me, I know...

As far as tires, you can run 35s on the factory mags without a problem. I've had 35s on my stock rims and haven't had a problem with my bearings going out or anything out of the ordinary. If you go with wider rims, the likely hood of your hubs going out is much greater.

Although it's not usually recommended, I would suggest looking into a few upgrades to strengthen the trans. I went with sonnax/tricumulator shift kit and a 26-row 6.0 trans cooler. The springs keep the shifts crisp and firm and the 6.0 trans cooler really keeps things cool under the heaviest of loads.

With the right tools (a strong impact wrench and hydraulic jack) it shouldn't take more than a few hours to a day and a half depending on your experience. When everything is said and done, your truck will look awesome and you'll get compliments everywhere you go. You may even find that the lift will pay for itself several times over, when it happens you'll know...

Not sure if I missed anything, but that's the advice I have to offer...heres some reading material from my experience: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...lly-caved.html

Sorry for the hijack, but Toreador, it really seems like you know what you are talking about with 2wd systems. Any info on why they do not make a lift kit for a 2wd dually?

Fabtech 4WD Ford, Fabtech Suspension Lift Kits for 4WD Ford, Fabtech Lift Kits, Offering All Fabtech 4WD Ford Suspension Lift Kits.

Pro Comp Ford , Pro Comp Ford Suspension Lift Kits, Ford Lift Kit, Pro Comp Suspension Lift, 4 Wheel Online Offers Pro Comp Ford Suspension Kits.

Both manufacturers seem to make a kit for the dually, but I'd call them to get the specifics...

2wd lift

there is a couple more companies that make lifts for the 2wd, RCD makes one THAT I HAVE it is just not a hugh seller so you will have to ask about it (but there coils suck they told me that at a show)so i picked up a set of fabtech's 6"coils OOO RCD KIT IS ONLY A 4". and the other company is DOETSCH TECH is the other and i think it might be cheaper $$$$ 780.00 on there site installing the kit was not that bad. It is easyer to drop the WHOLE FRONT and then install the kit i will see if some pics to post

Juan,

Will your springs itself lift the truck?
