quick question

I was talking to a guy today and he swore that these trucks, specifically a 93 f150, DID NOT come with a 351, is this true?

thanks

Negatory ghostrider.

The 351W or 5.8L for those metrically inclined was used in F150's through '96. The F-250's and larger trucks used them through '97.

ya i should have put money on it lol.

ok, he was in total disbelief, but after he accepted it he insisted that it must be special order, (i know, i know) then saying that the 300 straight 6, and the 302 v8 were the common engines for those years.
Is that part at least right?

I picked up a book at a swap meet this last weekend and I thought I would share what I read tonight. a few things in here don't make sense to me, such as why all of the fuel injected engines are listed as MFI instead of EFI and why there is an alleged 5.9liter engine in 1989. I didn't want to start changing what the book had listed though. Take it for what it's worth.

Of the 276,750 F-150's made in the 1987 model year, 48.6% had a fuel-injected six-cylinder engine, 7.1% had a carbureted V8. 44.3% had a fuel-injected V8.

Of the 348,071 F-150's made in 1988, 44.4% had an inline six-cylinder engine, 46.6% had a 5.0liter MFI V8 , 9.0% had a 5.8 liter MFI V8.

Of the 348,945 F-150's made in 1989, 45.8% had an inline six-cylinder engine, 47.2% had a 5.0liter V8, 7.0% had a 5.9 liter V8.

Of the 326,336 F-150's made in 1990, 41.4% had a 4.3liter V6, 49.8% had a 5.0liter V8, 8.8% had a 5.8liter V8.

Of the 273,892 F-150's made in 1991, 45.1% had a 4.9liter MFI inline six, 45.0% had a 5.0liter MFI V8, 9.9% had a 5.8liter MFI V8.

Of the 358,694 F-150's made in 1992, 43.4% had a 4.9liter MFI inline six, 44.0% had a 5.0liter MFI V8, 12.6% had a 5.8liter MFI V8.

Of the 379,008 F-150's made in 1993, 42.2% had a 4.9liter MFI inline six, 44.5% had a 5.0liter MFI V8, 13.3% had a 5.8liter MFI V8.

Of the 433,596 F-150's made in 1994, 42.0% had a 4.9liter MFI inline six, 46.8% had a 5.0liter MFI V8, 11.2% had a 5.8liter MFI V8.

Of the 464,863 F-150's made in 1995, 41.3% had a 4.9liter MFI inline six, 43.6% had a 5.0liter MFI V8, 15.1% had a 5.8liter MFI V8.

Of the 267,373 F-150's made in 1996, 45.8% had a 4.9liter MFI inlive six, 42.5% had a 5.0liter MFI V8, 11.8% had a 5.8liter MFI V8.

Now, if you're talking F-250s, they were more rare with the 302 than with any other engine...I know that the 1989 F-250s were under 12% 302s where the 300, 351, and 460 saw higher numbers.

He was probably looking on wikipedia, i looked up ford truck on there and this was so much crap that wasnt true. Like that the 300 was only used in the f150, and the efi produces less power then the carb version of the engine. and bunches of other crap.

But heck its on the interweb so it must be true.
