Eric will mill one out of solid billet for for $1150.00. He's working on a pattern for a cast aluminum cover but who knows how long it will take for it to hit the market.

Otherwise you are stuck watching ebay for a used Clifford valve cover.

Hawes never replied to my inquiries into their finned side cover.

I can look into making some. If y'all want I can look into see what it would take to reverse engineer the main idea from their pictures and a stock side cover. Not sure what it would cost yet but I'll look into it.

Well it seems like Hawes Engineering isn't selling them anymore. So if you could look into it we'd all appreciate it.

Just don't forget the groove/step in the back side of the cover for the gasket area.

I need to find the dimensions, or go pull a cover so I can measure it properly. Might be a lil while, but I'll get rolling on it. How many did you finally have interested in wanting one?

I have a spare cover in my garage that's sitting around. I work at a machine shop so if you need me to take measurements, I can do that.

Do you have SolidWorks at your shop? If so could you make up a drawing of the part, mainly the overall and critical dimensions?
Is this not something you could make at your shop? I have buddies that come to me to make parts their bosses won't let them do at their shops either. I work in a two man shop where I hardly ever see the other guy so I don't mind the cool parts.

I have SolidWorks but I'm not really allowed to make my own stuff so I can't be using it for that. We're usually too busy making our company's parts to be doing personal creations.

Plus, with something of this size we'd need to order up some extrusions to do a run of them, so that adds to the cost. Then there's machining, laser etching, anodizing, or engraving if anyone needs that. Not to mention corrections if the original prototype doesn't work out...

If there were a bunch of people who badly wanted one I'm sure I could sway my boss but the way I see it right now is that I'm not in a position to be making them.

If there's enough interest and you, GaMachinist, want to borrow my side cover, I'll bead blast it and then mail it to you at your expense. Since you'd be making profit from all this I see that as being fair. Shouldn't cost too much anyway.

Thanks, but I'll let you hang on to your side cover. Just gives me an excuse to go by my jy and pull a few parts that I've been "needing".

My plans would be to just start with 6061-t6 plate, I'm guessing 1/2inch thick, maybe more. I would just machine it, and leave the anodizing to you if you wanted it. I could custom engrave it if someone wants it too, would just be extra.

I'll keep y'all informed when I get some progress.
