Price check
Hey folks. I've been searching for a Super Duty for a while, mostly wanting a V10. However I came across this nice '05 today that I went and checked out. It's very nice looking and drives great. It's basically everything I could ask for, except I wasn't too thrilled with the 5.4 but I won't be doing any heavy towing so I could easily live with it. What are your opinions of the 5.4 in a 3/4 ton? I've got him down to $17k on the price, seem reasonable?

Looks to be a nice looking truck and seems in line with book value. I have an '04 F250 with a 5.4 and couldn't ask for more except a little more power while towing a small travel trailer up steep grades. But performance is OK if the engine runs above 3000 rpms under those circumstances. I struggled with possibly getting a V10 or diesel but came to the conclusion that the 5.4 is a good match for my needs. I'm keeping an eye on the new V8. That might be perfect for me.

Looks pretty good in the photos, but without a close look in person it's hard for anyone to really offer effective assistance.
I'd suggest taking a deep breath and keep looking around for what you REALLY want (V10). I would imagine they will honor the negotiated price for as long as the vehicle is sitting on the lot so if you deside you will be happy with a 5.4 it should be there for you (at least for a few days). If it does sell from under you? You can be assured something else will come along!
Before I decided to purchase and have my Truck shipped to me I knew I wanted a V10 but I did take the time to test drive approx: 8 other Trucks including a couple 5.4s and diesels. The test drives confirmed the fact that I wanted a V10. I know I would have been disappointed with a 5.4.

I get the feeling you're gonna end up with a good Truck seeing you're taking the time to investigate and willing to consider other engines even though you want a V10.
