Trying to get cig lighter to work!
When I got my truck the cig lighter was rigged with a spliced wire that ran to the fuse panel and just connected by the end stripped back and pressed under one side of the Aux fuse.
It worked but I cut it away with the intention of hooking it up right. Well, for the life of me I cannot locate the blue/red stripe wire like the one on the cig pigtail.
So, I was going to connect it like it was, only go to the cig fuse on the bottom left of the fuse box. The fuse was a short stubby one, 15amps 3.2v. The fuse is shorter thatn the space it's plugged into....it looks like a regular size fuse would fit in there.
Anyway, I hooked it up, went to check the cig lighter with a test light....saw a spark and fuse blew.
Was the short fuse the wrong one? Can I hook up the lighter like this? If so, what amperage and voltage should the fuse be? 15a/12v
