coil on plug. instead of having a couple coil packs with spark plug wires or a distrubutor and plug wires, there is a coilpack mounted right on each spark plug.

you SHOULD throw a code if it's misfiring due to coil problems. have you read to see if anything is "Pending"????

You will not get a CEL or any Code for a misfiring coil unless there is a complete failure of the coil. SD's are over 8500 GVWR and or not required to follow ODB II complience. See the link below.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...t-come-on.html

If there is a misfire in a coil it will be stored as a Pending Code if there has been enough misfires. Most scanners can read the Pending Codes but it's a seperate menu from normal Codes.

COPs are those pesky little things with lights on the cars that never seem to leave me alone! lol
Seriously, the guys are right, it is Coil On Plug. It replaced the twin coil packs found on earlier model modular engines. Ford swapped out the packs to the COPs in 1999 on the Mustang, not 100% on the trucks. By the way, if the pack is going out, you might want to take a look at the boot. They are prone to failure causing the pack not to work properly. What may cost you $45 may actually be a replaceable $10 boot.

No problem. When I first got this truck it took be a bit to wrap my head around the idea it was basically and ODB-I system with an OBD-II interface.

Replace the pcv hose if it is sucking tight... They get soft with age, a good pcv hose is pretty firm and shouldn't suck closed.

Speaking of cop, the same one keeps cracking in my truck, 2001 350 v10, cylinder #10. Sometimes it will last a few months down to a day or 2, Am I putting it in wrong or doI have problems?
Thanks
