you know that doesnt look too bad... looks like its pretty much ready for paint?? just needs minor minor body work? although i can't see any doors or front sheet metal :P but if its ready to go you can expect 5-6000 dollars for the complete paint job (nothing fancy you just said a daily driver shine) so basically a quick prime, sand and splash job... then whatever labour you want them to do to put together and whatever you will do yourself you'd just pay that extra for whatever you want done...
but this is just me guesstimating from the pic since it does look like its all ready to get painted? and like i said a decent splash job...
apparently there is a very good shop in meadow lake?? with a chick painter there, and i've seen a couple of her jobs, shes a sick painter! no idea how far that is for you, but i would recommend bridge city auto body in saskatoon... buddy had his wrecked 73 beetle repaired there and it was good work, looks like a shop that loves the old cars too!

I have talked with a guy, Chris knows who he is, and we have a plan.
I need to buy a fender and get all the bolt on body parts together so he can fit everything to see how the previous body work fits with everything else. He will then do any panel readjusting and go from there.
My time line is looking like maybe in the fall i will have the items i need, bolt it together rough and cart it down to him. Fall because i have several other projects that apparently have priority........Plymouth, basement, garage.
Will let ya'll know when things start happening.

Chiming in late.....COOL ride!! I think you have it figured out: if you can take it to someone mostly together, it's better than in pieces. Get a look at jobs done, in person and photo's. Cut a deal to pay as you go if possible. I've worked deals like this: $1000 a week, which is half a full week of work, so while the builder gets regular paydays, there's an incentive to get it finished, as you are only paying half. Also you feel covered in case it doesn't get done, or doesn't get done right!
I'll also throw out some numbers*, since everyone else is!
If those quarters are already done (and done well) and the doors and fenders just need some clean up metal work.....
Bodywork: alignments, re and re, gaps, etc. 100 hrs.
Prep for paint (inc high build primer, blocking, sealer) 100 hrs
Total: 200 hrs x $50 (my shop rate) = $10,000
Paint, cutand polish: 20 x $75 (general shop rate for paint) = $1500 (may have to add for materials as that is the cost now just for paint, etc for one car!)
Re-assy: 40 x $50 = $2000
Total: $13,500
Add more for interior and engine work!
* just for fun, one can't estimate much from one photo!
Good luck on your project!

Ha, a long lost post. I was googling something else and ended up here. Just an update where this ended. I have since sold that fastback, happened on a whim, right time right guy (or so I thought). I was offered a very very good price for it as a project . After seeing what else I could buy and drive away (thank you Morris) I did the deal. The car went to Alberta and over the span of almost 2 years was completed as a Shelby clone. He then was forced to sell the car. I was offered but declined. I saw it on Kijiji and eBay with a number of 55,000. He did sell it but not sure where it's gone now.
