Need info on manual P-stroke/gas transmissions

So, if a motor comes along from a '94.5-97 Powerstroke for a decent price, I'm going to (hopefully) swap it into my old '89 F-150 4x4 w/ the 4.9l gasser and ZF-5 tranny. What I need to know is, first off, will the tranny bolt right up? I've read "no" somewhere else, that the bellhousing bolt pattern is different, and even if you drill the holes to mount the b-housing, it'll crack anyways... Which doesn't sound right to me, they both had aluminum bellhousings, and there doesn't seem to be much difference between the SS-42 and SS-47 ZF-5's other than the 47's were rated at a higher input torque capacity. The other thing I need to know is, are there any major differences between the two? I.E.: input shaft diameter/length, slave cylinder differences, any sensors/electronic wizardry from the ECU/PCM to the trans, or anything else I might have missed... Any help you guys have would be awesome.

you need ALOT more then just the motor, all the wiring and clusters whole fuel system motor cross member, alot of people talk abt swaping powerstrokes in there gas trucks, but i think when they relieze what there getting into they move on to a different idea.

Soooo... Basically I should stick with the original plan of going Cummins? Only reason I was asking is there have been some decent priced Powerstrokes that have come down the line recently. And I didn't want to have to fork out the mega-dough required for the Cummins adapters, and mount, and blahblahblahblah... Believe me, a diesel IS going into that truck. One way or the other.
