SLOW turnover w/ New Battery

In short, '96 f250 w/ a 460. It has new battery and good cables, but turns over slow when cranking. If you shut it off and go to start within 5 min, it will barely start. And by "barely" i mean it will hardly turn over. It acts like the batt is dead, but even with a brand new battery, it acts like this. I am just learning about these after having diesels for the last few years. Any input is really appreciated!

Thanks....I did use the search tab and am finding that consistently. There is also info on the starter getting hot, but no modifications done to this truck. Will look at it this evening. Thanks!!

Sounds like exactly what my Bronco was doing before I changed the starter.

After you are sure of a good ground & good wires. Test your starter amperage draw. If you don't have access to a Amp meter go to parts store that will test the starter before you buy one. If you need one get a good quality part not a cheapie. Auto/Zone will give you a lifetime warranty, but you will be seeing them for a lifetime & be well experienced in starter R&R. It has been said "Friends don't let friends go to Auto/Zone"
I had a similar issue and it was my starter. Just my 2cents. Let us know what fixes your problem & good luck

Starter windings expand after time, and the more they expand when hot, the more juice is needed to turn the engine over. My other rig would fire right up when first started, then fall on it's grill after it got up to temp.
