If you have a long bed, you can add in a spacer in the carrier bearing which will lessen the driveline angle. I have one I believe I bought from Rubicon Express.

Drop the carrier bearing on a two piece driveshaft. Most high quality kits come with the shims in the kit.

I reviewed the 6" lift kits at National Tire & Wheel. They carry the popular brands like Skyjacker, Pro Comp, Super Lift, etc. What is your budget for this lift kit? Do you plan to run 35" or 37" tall tires? What gears do you currently have in your axles? How long do you plan to keep the truck?

I've got an 05 crew cab with 6 inch lift running 35s. I shimmed the carrier bearing and had vibration, actually worst then it was stock. Took the truck to a driveline specialist and they told me to keep it stock form so I put it back and it drives like a dream. Go figure.

Running 35s your pretty close to stock so changing the gears is not necessary unless you just want more low end power. Anything above 35s and I would say yes to changing gears. Anywho just my two cents. Good luck

thanks

Installing 4.10 gears with 35" tires will get you very close to the same RPM's as you currently have with 3.73 gears and 31.5" tires. You can use the RPM Calculator below to determine which gears are best for your application. Your 6-speed transmission has a "Transmission High Gear Ratio" of .72.

RPM Calculator

Do you plan to keep the stock 16X7 wheels or use aftermarket wheels?

The reason that I asked about the wheels is that if you purchase new wheels with the appropriate back spacing (4.5"), you can get away with a 4" lift kit and 35" tires.

Have you considered that option?

IMO, a 4" lift kit looks better than a 6" lift kit with 35" tires. Now, if you do serious off-roading, you may want the 6" lift kit for better wheel articulation.

Here is a 2004 F250 with a 4.5" (should be 4") Icon lift kit and 35" tires on 20" wheels.

There is not a noticable difference in these pics. You can go to the link (gallery) below and see the various configurations for more examples.

BTW, what wheels did you order? That's an unusual BS for a 10" wide wheel...
