2010 or wait for 2011?

True, but, given the wide variety of employment that the new engines will have, I'm going to assume that ford has done all the right things right.
I intend to wait for the new motors. I haven't had a new truck in over 2 decades and I want the latest thing on the road when that day comes for me.

Is there anything official from ford as to what engine will be available in what model?
If I could get a crewcab 4X4 with 6.5ft box and the 6.2l, I would probably wait for a 2011, but if the 6.2l is only going into the higher end trucks I would get a 2010. I tow a 28ft fifth wheel camper and would like more power but don't need a fancy truck to go to the lake.

If you plan on keeping the truck for years to come, I'd go with the 2010... the Mod motors may not be as powerful as the new ones, but they are proven to run for a long time. The new ones should prove to be great motors too, but they are not proven yet. Aslo, with the new powertrains, there is bound to be a price markup to cover the engineering costs. I got a 2010 FX4 and have been very happy with it. It has plenty of power (of course, more is better...) and I have had the 5.4 in the past and I know it will run forever.

I would wait if you can, I like my 5.4, but gee it is slow to rev, that's what happens when you have little pistons with a long stroke. Hard to get the fuel and air in to make the pistons respond and pick up speed, but there is a lot of torque. I think the new engines will add great drivability, not just 100HP more at the top. I think the motors will be a lot more responsive - all of them. But I love how the EcoBoost drives, in the Flex it is savagely fast and responsive. The 6.2 with a big 4'' bore, and short stroke, with large valves and twin spark plugs, should also be very responsive. Ford has already unveiled the 6.2, 6.7 and EcoBoost, and the are out already being tested by some of Ford's clients, so should have all the bugs ironed out before the 2011 F150 and SuperDuty goes on sale. I would definitely wait, if waiting is an option.
