Lift Kit Choices for 1979 F-150

I am sure this question has been over asked, but I am gonna ask it again. I have a 1979 F-150 and I am thinking about getting a 4 or 6 inch suspension lift kit for it. I was just wondering what kit would be the best and what your guys experience with the lift has been? I am looking for a complete kit and your input is much appreciated. <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

How much are you willing to spend.. I think kit quality depends on the money you pay for it.

Negative batman. Most "kits" are overpriced junk.

Do you want a mud truck or are you looking for flex for trails and rocks? That decision will help out alot. No matter what the best thing is to get rear lift packs and stay away from blocks. If it were me and money wasnt a problem i would buy Cage arms, superflex front coils and deaver rear spring packs. Damn thing will ride like a caddy.

In addition to what cheeto said, if you want to save some money just do a sky manufacturing shackle flip in the rear (info can be found in the tech thread) and stay with stock radius arms, use superflex 4" coils from bronco graveyard, 4* c bushings, drop pitman arm, and drop tracbar mount, and some stainless steel extended brake lines.

I'll third the deaver/superflex springs. Nice and soft. I have them on the front of my 79 and they are great. If I don't go for a longer spring in the back then it'll get them in the rear too.

Well the truck will be mostly used as a driver nothing hard core. It would definetly see mud and snow, but no rock crawling or anything to that nature. Can you just get the factory springs arched to get 4 inches out of them? If I use the parts you have recommended do I have to extend brake lines and drive shafts? Thanks for the input guys.

Re-arched springs bring the suck. Beside you if you arched them enough to get 4" then they would be to short to bolt back up. Just think about it. If you bend something the ends get closer together. If your not worried about ride quality and are going to be in mud then any off the shelf "kit" will work.

obviously get the skyjacker 6" if you want a really nice kit with no blocks. but if your goin cheeper you can just get lift springs for the front and drop radius arms(if thats what you call them), new pitman arm, and then block the rear however much you want. those trucks dont need much for big tires, my dad back when he had a 79, could fit 35's with either no lift or very very little i dont remember which
