any pix of a Bump with side pipes?

Just wondering what it looks like. Thinking of putting on 4" side pipes for some retro style. That, or just running pipes all the way to the back.

I would like to see it with side pipes also. I plan to run mine straight out the back unless side pipes can give me the look I want.

Talking

Side pipes might be neat if the truck is *level* and low (like an old 'vette). I also would like to see a pic.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the pipes out the back under the bumper. I think it looks 'pretentious'. Also they tend to get squished and bent.
I like mine -- straight out the sides forward of the rear wheels. Check my gallery, when I re-do mine it'll be the same config, but tucked up. I don't like the mufflers hanging down (the po did the exhaust) -- for two reasons:
1. If I ever wheeled the truck, the mufflers would be the first thing to get ripped off in a hole or on a rock (not that I'm planning to truly wheel my 42 year old truck).
2. They look like a** hanging down. Tuck 'em up and create a smooth belly (other than the t-case!!!)

IMHO

Just re-read your post.

For a 300cid, what's the optimum pipe without floating valves?

This wont be for the 300, it'll be after the diesel swap, so size isnt an issue. I have a headdder on the 300 with full length dual 2" now, and I like the noise behind me. I'll go full length again, unless the sydepipeage gives it the look, except for being 4".

Oh c'mon Dale...with the diesel swap you need huge chrome stacks sticking right up through the bed...

There is a few trucks with 4 or 6" pipes out of the bed of the truck around here and they look way better on someone elses truck. My brothers comes out in front of his wheel and it does look cool and sound awesome and mine are straight out the back. When I do my 67 they are likely going straight out the back through the roll pan with nice chrome tips.

Thru the roll pan is cool. Nice and tight looking -- integrated.
I just don't like the look of them hanging out below a step bumper... Not my cup of tea I guess. Everyone is entitled to an opinion (as long as it's the same as mine!!!!!!)

Having the exhaust come out before the rear tires must be loud in the cab. I like the look of big 4 inch slash cut tips coming out from behind the rear tires.

my truck has the exhaust coming out in front of the rear tires. im running 2 1/2" pipes and the tips are 3"
dale will tell you if my exhaust is loud. lol

it is kinda funny, when im rolling the highway, usually in the left lane. people have a tendency to move out of the way.

im also using powersticks for mufflers.

That did remind me of how loud it gets. Maybe just a simple single all the way out back would do.

Loud? I think it would be loud in the cab of my truck no matter how I ran the exhaust -- tire noise, engine noise, etc, etc...
Like the Harley bumper sticker says: "Loud pipes save lives"

I drive a str8 piped truck at work, and it's cool most of the time. I never said it was going to have a muffler!

There is a bump with sidepipes in Rexburg, but I'm out of state right now.
I can tell you Flowmasters with turndowns right behind the cab is LOUD, especially trying to maintain 45 up a 6% grade in third while towing 9k, and that's just with a new and healthy 360.
