Winterfront

I have Ford's winterfront installed on my '08 6.4.

Since I installed it, my external temperature seems to read anywhere from about seven to fifteen degrees high. I'm assuming this is because the winterfront hampers outside air from getting to the sensor and harbors some engine heat near the sensor.

I'd be interested to hear you thoughts on this issue.

Thanks.

yeah larry the sensor is right beside the passenger side headlight.. its go a nipple on it and what looks like a 7/8 thread. it will be picking up engine heat from your new front. im99% sure this is it but i stand to be corrected.

Ford has a service kit available to relocate the sensor for those who are having issues with the EATC freaking out while running the winter cover and/or a plow. The part number for the kit is 8C3Z-14A411-C which has a MSRP of $48.53.

NOTE: If you are still under the original 36K warranty, you can get the issue taken care of under warranty using TSB 08-14-4.

ISSUE
Some 2008 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC), may exhibit a lack of heat while snowplowing or using a winter grill cover. Symptoms may include higher than normal outside air temperature display readings. The abnormal outside temperature readings could lead to improper automatic temperature control function with inadequate heat provided to the cabin and/or undesired mode changes.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Relocate the outside air temperature sensor by following the instructions provided in the Service Kit.
WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
IMPORTANT : Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part.
