Testing coolant
#2
The dealership can do it. You can also get test strips from Napa or fleetpride.
If your coolant has gone 50k miles and hasn't been changed, I would just flush it, clean it w/ VC-9 (thanks 69cj) and add new. This coolant was advertised as 100k miles service life, but it does not protect well past 50k.
Edit (more info):
TEST your coolant: Fleetguard DCA4 Test Strip Kit CC2602A (FleetPride or DieselManor): 800 ppm minimum nitrite level
Ford part number for test kit: 328-00001 or call Rotunda - Rotunda 3-way heavy-duty antifreeze test strip kit (1-800-Rotunda (768-8632) Option 2)
Also - check the expiration date on the test strips - so not get them or use them if they are past this date.
