wal-mart oil

Does anybody know who makes the wal-mart brand oils? And would you use them?

Warren, and I dont use it but have no issue with API licensed private brands. I did use Coastal 100% synthetic in the Toyota once because it was on closeout at AZ for $1.

Look for a "WPP" stamped on the bottom of the bottle. That means it is Warren, out of Omaha, I think.

Personally, I buy whatever is on sale. Lately, name brands have been relatively cheap at AZ and O'Reilly.

I've tried many brands but find the Motorcraft synthetic blend to be a great value especially at walmart.

I bought the jeep with 4,000 miles on it. The dealer changed the oil when I bought it so I don't know what it had it's first oil change. At least 100,000 miles were wally oil and mostly SuperTech filters. Once in a while I used a Motorcraft or (gasp) Fram filter if wally was out of the ST3600 the Jeep takes. Two or three oil changes were with NAPA oil and filters.

If you get the NAPA Gold filters they are a WIX filter probably the best made

Talking Cheapo oils

Napa gold is also the Motorcraft filter, same exact product.

'Cheap' store brand oils are not the same as quality DINO oils of the major brand names. They DO NOT contain the same or equal amounts
of the necessary additives that todays engines need. If you use these 'cheap' oils in your vehicle, you run the risk of premature engine failure. That's not to say that it WILL happen, but why take that risk. Engines today, can cost upwards of $12,000 to replace or rebuild.
Is that really worth the $5 savings at each oil change???
Where is the logic to that???
What are you really saving???
Just like generic drugs or generic foods, there really is a difference in the
products. Sure you save money, but you're not getting what you think.
If its an old beater that's not worth anything, than yes I could see buying
the 'cheap' oils.
Otherwise, please seriously think about the damage that you could do to
a vehicle by not using a quality name brand product.

I made a costly mistake years ago...you dont have to.

If you use DINO oil, you can go 5,000 miles.
With fully synthetic oil, you can go 15,000 miles.
(18 wheelers go 50,000 miles between changes...what does that tell you)
And they last 1 million miles or more, total life span of the engine.

I dont pay any more $$ for using fully synthetic oils and good
filters, because of the 15,000 mile oil change intervals I use.
My vehicles get 3 MPG more on average & have about 10 more HP.
All because of the decreased friction & temperatures in the engine.
When I tear down my engines at 200,000 miles, they are as clean
as when they are put together.
Everything I say here is factual and can be found on the internet.

Napa gold filters are actually Wix filters, not motorcraft. The motorcaft filter is closer to a Purolator Pure One filter.

I have a good friend who did a fair amount of research on oils and came to the
conclusion that the Wallie World oils were fine to use. He's been using them
now for several years and has had no issues to date. While the fellow is thrifty,
I know for a fact that if he felt in any way that it wasn't up to the job he wouldn't
use it if it were free!

That is pure, absolute hogwash. You must work for one of the big oil companies.

I love quotes like these. Comparing something that happended in the 50s or 60s with today. Let it go man! Trade in the Victorola for an Ipod already.

I wish that I worked for one of the oil companies...I would save mega $$$
every year on oil and fuel.

LOL. Yes, we do own some old Victrolas and ipods for the kiddos. Those old Victrolas are worth about $5,000 each and work better than the ipods.

As far as what to use.
Use whatever floats your boat.
Because 'Jschira', you are going to argue with everyone about everything
anyway and always say that someone elses opinion is worthless & false.

The point of my response was that synthetics are superior to DINO oils.
Period, nothing more...I was giving my experience over the past 20 years.
My family has experience with oils and synthetics for many years, it goes back generations to about the 1920s. We owned numerous service stations and a dealership on the east coast. I think we sold Pennzoil
and Amsoil too when it came out.

The gov. uses synthetics.
The military too.
Delivery companies use it.
Most truckers now use it.

I am not an oil retailer, I do not get any $$$ for saying any of this and
if I didnt see it for myself, I wouldnt believe it either.

Just for ****s and giggles, go on the Royal Purple website and browse it.
Just check it out...........thats all.
