Tire Sensor Fault - on display
I just purchased this '07 Ford Escape Limited and it has about 38k miles on it. When I was driving the other day the display in the cluster said "Tire Sensor Fault" - I checked all the tire pressures and found them to be with-in about 1lb of eachother.....adjusted and drove again....the light still comes on. What should I be looking to do or fix at this point? Last time I was at a Ford garage I was cleaned out ($$$) for a simple bulb replacement - don't want to make that trip again!

Are you referring to the TPMS light? If so, are you using the original wheels? If you aren't it may be that your current wheels don't have the TPMS sensors in them (I don't have them in my winter RIMS), so every once in a while the light will flash.
If they are the original wheels, then maybe you have defective sensor in one of the wheels.

You'll have to get it scanned. Take it to someone who has a scanner that can read Ford specific codes.
If you want to DIY then you'll need a scanner with the Ford codes. I use a scanner from scantools.net with the ScanXL software + Ford Enhancements. It lists some PIDs for the TPMS, but I've yet to take a close look at those, so I'm not 100% sure it will tell you what you need to know.
Sadly, my escape is away gettings it's transmission rebuilt so I can't test it for you.

If I go to the Ford store - it's $89 just to pull the codes....most times it doesn't take but a couple minutes to get these codes. WHAT A RIP....this isn't rocket science...it's a computer that needs told to tell me the codes I am requesting. I may just leave it alone - but it sure would be nice to have this feature work rather than let it go to waste.
