regen duration--3 days?

Last week, I was in regen for 3 days straight. Total engine run time was about 10hrs from the time it started to when it stopped. I had a few start/stops that interrupted the regen each time. The moment engine temp got up about 1/3 scale, it would fire up It must have burned 1/8-1/4 tank of gas. My regens usually last 10-15min at most.

I had just called the dealer to setup an appt to get it checked out and was pulling out of the house to head over there right after a brief 10min freeway trip back home-- and then regen stopped! No CEL codes or anything. Just like a kid who complains he's sick and all of a sudden feels great the moment he knows he's headed to see the doctor for some shots. I canceled the dealer appt since it's not happening for me to prove it.

Not sure if I got a bum load of gas or what, but one thing, it was rather cold and wet the whole week when regen first started, and traffic was bad such that I was stop and go the whole time and going no more than 30mph . I'm sure all the constant road spray on the dpf didn't help much either.

The last couple of trips I made up to Reno with a light load when it was freezing was mostly all freeway driving, so I never saw anything out of the norm

You guys up in 'cold' country see similar issues?

our weather last week was cold and humid and I had a similar experience. took me 2 days of stop/go driving for the thing to finish. It finally completed with a 20 minute interstate drive I took.

the truck was running as it should...based upon the sequence of events you never had it running long enough to finish. Next time if that happens and time allows take it for a drive to get it done.

Doing what you did will also result in the making of oil so be careful to get it done.

If you're puttin' gas in that diesel, no wonder you've got problems.

Seriously, though. I've never had that problem, but then the bulk of my drivng is long enough trips to get the regenerations done properly.

The only problem I have, is that I think they occur way too frequently.

Further thought. If you've only burned an 1/8 to a 1/4 tank of fuel in three days, you're not driving a whole lot. My guess is that the REGEN had just not completed enough to satisfy the sensors.
