any of you guys do your own tuning?

well its tax time and also pms time and i want to get a different chip for my truck. i had a dp on my super duty and loved it but im planning on stage 2 diy injectors in the future and if i buy a php chip from jim at rosewood which is where i will get my injectors, he will re-burn it for free. jim, please correct me if i misunderstood your website! i was also looking at the php website and they have Minotaur tuning software that lets you tune your own truck. live tuning whenever you want! ive done it on duramaxes via efi live but have any of you guys done it on your powerstroke?

I've had the Minotaur software for over a year now and have not had the needed time to dig deep into it.
It is NOT ANYTHING like EFI live, get that out of your head. Not even close.
You have the ability to really mess up your truck if you're not really careful.
And it's not Live Tuning. You build a tune then load it on a chip and put the chip in the truck. If you want to make changes, you change the tune on your computer, pull the chip, burn the new tune, etc.

Plenty of guys use the software and have great success. All it takes is a TON of time and a TON of desire to get your head into it, ask the appropriate questions, etc.
I have had the desire, just not the time it takes to figure out how to do it.
I've been bugging them for a tuning seminar for months, maybe if/when they go for it I'll get my butt going on it.

thanks alot jim. thats the kind of stuff i was wondering. i figured itd be a little harder on our trucks because oil becomes a factor too. so in live tuning the tuner actully tunes it while you drive? well that answers my next question. i was going to ask if you tuned the chip or it was php tuning. i like messing with efi live but i dont know if i want to risk seriously doing some major damage to my powerstroke. just curious what makes it different/harder? i was excited once i saw that ive never seen tuning software for our trucks but i guess ill leave it to the pros

there are several companies with tuning software that we can use to tune our own trucks. i wouldn't mind getting into it, but i don't really want to grenade my engine when i coulda just let somebody do it who knew what they were doing. i think i could do it pretty good, but i don't think i will ever have the time to take to get really good at it so i will leave it to the guys who do it everyday as well...
