Got the oil changed, getting noise now

Had the oil changed last week at the local oil change joint, and now I'm getting bearing noises at start-up. The level is fine (I dropped about 1/2 quart to facilitate the needed room to pour a can of Restore in).

Would the Restore be causing this?? It's only for a few seconds, then it goes away...

BTW...it's a '89 F-250 with the 302 I think all that info is in my sig.

*EDIT* Yup...info in my sig!

What oil filter did they put on it , sounds like the anti drain valve isn't working , no oil in filter at start up , put a motorcraft or wix ect filter on it....Lew

I agree with Lew. Get a Motorcraft, Wix, Purolator etc filter. If its a Fram, Pennzoil, or generic filter get it off of there.

I would not have put the restore in it. You may be better off changing the oil again to get it out.

I generally do not like snake oil, at least 9 out of 10 times.

I agree completely with the filter idea. Check and see what they put on it.

agreed! Get a Wix or Motorcraft oil filter... If you don't like doing your own oil changes get a Dorman EZ Drain plug... I don't use any tools for my oil changes! plus you can get way better oil for your engine for the same price!

Every motor (all 2 of them) that I put "Restore" in, started making bearing noise.
Get that junk out of there.

Motors were a 302 in a mustang, and a 1.6 liter toyota. It did make the compression go up, but both motors developed bearing issues shortly after.

Yeah your better off changing it your self , or take it to a good shop so you know what your getting , these oil change places just use the cheap stuff . Motorcraft & Wix are good , so are the filters made by champion lab , Mobile I , K&N , are very good ...Lew

Had the exact same issue many years ago with a fram on a 302, knocking on start-up. Replaced with a FL1A Motorcraft on someones advise and sound went away immediately. Find out what brand filter they used!..........Change the oil yourself, NOW! and get that restore crap out of there!

Prior to the oil change, when was the last time the oil was changed? Sometimes old sludgey oil will make the motor quieter (note: I didn't say better) than the fresh oil.

Out of curiosity, I have been using Purolator's on all my vehicles. Are they acceptable filters?
