I have heard that ford used a 5 speed tran in the older trucks with a granny low and overdrive 5th that went behind the ft engines.my bronco winds out with the 4:10 gears and I'm hopeing to find one of this type of trans.because I'm running the old 428 Fe in my truck i don't think something made for anything else ford made will fit..any ideas guys??

good luck finding one. ive heard of these but never seen one. to bad your running the 428 and not a 429 since there is a 5 speed ZF available for that bolt pattern. what size tires are you running?

While you might find a servicable Clark at the bottom of some scrap pile, there is another way: The NV4500. Not cheap, but cheaper than the GV methinks. Info here:

High Impact - NV4500 5spd

Note they also have the Ranger OD that fits between the bell and trans:

Ranger Overdrive

Needs an adaptor, info at that link I posted. The Clark requires machining & maybe cutting of the input, perhaps an FT bell with the monster clutch, not really certain. No free lunch available.
