07 Explorer and Low range ?
ok I have a 07 4.0 litre eddiebauer explorer I bought this last december for my wife, I was coming up on my warranty coming to a end so I was checking things out to see what may be able to be fixed. We hardly ever put this thing in 4wd, so i checked it. I can put it in 4 high with no problem everything works the way it should light comes on in the dash and all, so i tried 4 low. I was already in 4 high i stopped the truck put it in neutral and pushed the button and the light just blinks really fast on the button but no light in the dash,IS THIS NORMAL? After many many attempts it finally went in and it made a huge enormous popping sound. The i tried to take it out so i put it back in neutral and pushed the button and once again light just blinks and it was a son of a gun to come out. I was wondering how you are suppose to do this engage and disengage i guess. Hope someone can help.

Well you are doing exactly what the owner's manual says to do. When I had my Range Rover, I made it a habit to shift into low range at least once a month just so it doesn't always stay in 4high and when i needed low range it wouldn't work. Havn't been able to do that with my explorer yet cause the 4x4CM was dead, and right now it's in the process of getting it's motor put in, but I would just make it a habit to once or twice a month, shift it into low range just so the motor moves every once in a while.
